About The Role

Peraton is seeking a detail-oriented AI/ML Engineer to design, test, and optimize prompts that improve the performance, accuracy, and safety of AI language models for the Department of Defense (DoD) DMDC's Enterprise Law Enforcement Support Services (ELEs2)In this role, you will be key in designing, developing, and deploying cutting-edge machine learning solutions to address complex business challenges across DBIDS, IMESA, I2. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to grasp requirements, developing AI agents and performing prompt engineering.  The ideal candidate has strong communication skills, creative problem-solving abilities, and a deep understanding of NLP concepts. This role involves close collaboration with AI researchers, developers, and product teams to fine-tune model behavior and enhance user interactions.

 

 What You’ll Do:

  • Design, develop, deploy AI applications using LM's, agent framework, and other related technologies
  • Collaborate with enterprise teams to integrate LLM models with the existing CCIBT products and systems
  • Develop and maintain large scale applications using Java, Python, OpenShift containers, and other relevant technologies
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in AI, LLM, agentic frameworks and apply this knowledge to improve existing systems and develop new ones
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to applications and models
  • Ensure systems are monitored to increase operational efficiency and managed to mitigate risk
  • Lead, design, develop, test and implement applications and system components, tools and utilities, models, simulation, model drift, and analytics to manage complex business functions using sophisticated technologies
  • Resolve coding, testing and escalated platform issues of a technically challenging nature
  • Lead team to ensure compliance and risk management requirements for supported area are met and work with other stakeholders to implement key risk initiatives
  • Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including managers
  • Mentor junior software engineers.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD, 12 years of experience in lieu of degree
  • Ability to Obtain Public Trust clearance
  • Must be a U.S Citizen
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools like
    • GitHub Copilot
    • Codeium
  • Agile experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • Software developer experience in leveraging AI in software development include:
    • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Java
    • Familiarity in integrating AI models through APIs or SDKs
  • NIPRGPT, CAMOCGP, OpenAI, TensorFlow
  • Machine learning concepts
  • Prompt engineering
  • Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) techniques
  • Experience with LLMs (e.g., GPT), NLP tools, and prompt design strategies.
  • Familiarity with Python or scripting languages is a plus

Details

Target Salary Range: $135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
