Program Overview
Engineering modernization and integration practices to include Digital Engineering and Agile at Scale for all of NGA, NSG, and ASG.
About The Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Expert Systems Engineer to support mission-critical initiatives across the National System for Geospatial-Intelligence (NSG), Allied System for Geospatial-Intelligence (ASG), and various Federal Agencies. In this role, you will assist in leading multidisciplinary engineering teams focused on requirements engineering, systems integration, solutions development, test and evaluation, and more, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of GEOINT capabilities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Support the Government in directing engineering efforts in requirements development, systems design, scheduling, resiliency, integration, testing, and maintainability across NSG, ASG, and Federal Agencies.
  • Lead and contribute to the planning and analysis of user requirements, systems architectures, procedures, and technical challenges.
  • Evaluate cloud service capabilities and assess workflow and scheduling limitations.
  • Advise on the impact of proposed changes to solutions designs based on new technologies and evolving mission needs.
  • Translate mission and customer requirements into executable systems capabilities and engineering solutions.
  • Support requirements allocation to system architecture components and program execution.
  • Perform and support systems integration activities across diverse platforms and domains.
  • Lead or support Analyses of Alternatives (AoAs), Course of Action (CoA) assessments, trade studies, and engineering evaluations.
  • Contribute to strategic technical planning, project and performance management, risk mitigation, and interface design.
  • Provide expert-level guidance to Government stakeholders in aligning vision, strategy, requirements, and capability development.
  • Operate at an enterprise level, integrating across multiple Major Systems Acquisitions and inter-agency boundaries.
  • Supervise and coordinate the efforts of Senior-, Mid-, and Junior-level contractor systems engineers.

Skills and Experience:

 

Required:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or in related technical or scientific fields such as engineering, physics, mathematics, operations research, engineering management, Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or related STEM degree program.
  • A minimum of 18 years of technical experience is required. If this experience is as a Systems Engineer, it may be considered in lieu of a Master's degree.
  • A minimum of 18 years’ experience working as an Engineer.
  • 18 years' experience working within the NSG or ASG and major NSG programs/software applications (e.g. NCL, ArcGIS, RemoteView, GSP).
  • 18 years' experience working with DoD/IC Acquisition Process, Requirements Process, or system engineering of large complex System of Systems or Service Oriented Architecture/Cloud environments.
  • Experience with and strong understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle as it relates to the NSG environment.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance or the ability to obtain SCI clearance and successfully pass a polygraph.

Desired:

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the Open Data Store (ODS) at NGA
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the NGA Consolidated Library (NCL) at NGA
  • Knowledge of the NGA Data and Systems Enterprise level Architecture and Data Services
  • Working knowledge of Model Based Systems Engineering, processes, tools and languages
  • Software Development Framework certification
  • Licensure as a professional engineer
  • Extensive work experience in the field of geospatial intelligence
  • Experience engineering solutions using Cloud-based technologies
  • Experience engineering solutions using structured and unstructured Big Data
  • Experience engineering solutions using Automation, Augmentation and Artificial Intelligence technologies
  • Demonstrated expertise in photogrammetry, remote sensing, image science, information sciences, geographic information systems, geomatics, or related fields
SCA / Union / Intern Rate or Range

Details

Target Salary Range: $146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
