Program Overview
About The Role

Peraton is seeking a JR Systems Engineer to support the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) SSHINE contract to integrate, test, and support launch operations of experimental payloads. AFRL will provide the satellite bus and payload with all available documentation to date. The Chief Engineer will work closely with the rest of the team assigned to resolve any integration or test-related issues to ensure mission success.  All the work will be done in Albuquerque at the AFRL location utilizing their HITL/SITL test bench and satellite integration facility.

 

What you’ll do:

 

  • Provide support in systems engineering and analytics to support the mission and space systems designs.
  • Support requirements analysis, mission scope definition, and conceptual design for complex defense systems.
  • Ensures requirements comply with client requirements and government standards through formal verification methods.
  • Translates high level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and works with other engineering disciplines to develop lower-level detailed implementation requirements.
  • Establishes and coordinates development of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the overall product development.
  • Designs interfaces and brings system elements together, so they work as a whole.
  • Assesses performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures.
  • Customer liaison and support for business development activities and to understand and shape requirements.
  • Participates in system conceptual design and documentation of the design concepts.
  • Translates high level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and works with multi-discipline engineering teams to develop lower-level detailed requirements.
  • Participates in design reviews of components (hardware and software) to ensure applicability to the current system and traceability of requirements through compliance verification and validation.
  • Generates system level requirements verification procedures and customer acceptance test procedures.
  • Reviews test plans/procedures and ensures they meet the objectives of the contractual requirements and participates in the testing process to validate requirements.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in systems engineering for innovative solutions in the defense industry with a Bachelor's degree; OR 6+ years of experience in systems engineering for innovative solutions in the defense industry. 
  • Knowledgeable in ground system design, development, integration, test, and operations
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and conduct system level technical design reviews and audits
  • Understanding of mission analysis tools and techniques to model, simulate, and assess system performance under various operational conditions.
  • This position requires the candidate possess a minimum of Top-Secret clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI. The candidate must maintain the clearance.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Prefer professional certification (e.g., Professional Engineer, INCOSE CSEP, ITEA CTEP, Agile PM/PO, etc.).
  • Desired education: Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM), Information Technology, computer science or similar from a regionally accredited institution.

Details

Target Salary Range: $66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
