Program Overview
About The Role

Peraton is looking for an experienced Lead Surveillance Systems Manager to oversee the planning, integration, and enhancement of surveillance systems critical to the Brand New Air Traffic Control (BNATC) Program.  Modern air traffic control depends on real-time, precise surveillance to deliver safety, situational awareness, and traffic flow efficiency. The Lead Surveillance Systems Manager verifies the correct integration, thorough validation, and required delivery performance of every radar, sensor, and data feed to guide the future of airspace operations. This role will be a Director reporting to the Executive Vice President for the FAA BNATC Team.

The Lead Surveillance Systems Manager confirms the proper installation, interfaces, and validation of radar, ADS-B, multilateration, and other surveillance sources as part of the national airspace system modernization effort.

This role focuses on coordinating the integration of surveillance data streams into broader ATC systems to enable and deliver accuracy, redundancy, latency performance, and alignment with FAA requirements. The successful candidate will manage the technical and operational aspects of surveillance system deployment across multiple sites and environments.

 Responsibilities:

  • Lead the integration, installation, and validation of surveillance systems (primary radar, secondary radar, ADS-B, multilateration)
  • Verify the accurate interface of surveillance sensors and data feeds with automation platforms, communications systems, and FAA infrastructure
  • Coordinate with FAA, BNATC technical teams, and vendors to manage site-specific surveillance deployments, upgrades, and transitions
  • Lead efforts to upgrade or replace legacy surveillance infrastructure with high-performing, networked systems that provide highly accurate, 24/7 availability
  • Oversee data quality validation, including track accuracy, latency, coverage, and fusion performance
  • Develop and maintain interface control documents (ICD), test plans, site readiness checklists, and verification reports
  • Confirm that systems meet cybersecurity mandates, availability requirements, and national airspace standards
  • Support participation in technical interchange meetings (TIM), readiness reviews, and system integration testing
  • Maintain compliance with FAA performance requirements, system safety standards, and environmental constraints for sensor placement and infrastructure
  • Coordinate with engineering, telecommunications, and automation leads to support seamless end-to-end system performance
  • Participate in system-level design reviewsTIMs, and readiness events (Factory Acceptance Testing, Site Acceptance Testing, Operational Readiness Reviews)
  • Collaborate with Program Manager, Deputy PM, PMO, subcontractors, and FAA to make sure that delivery progress aligns with program-level goals and controls
  • Execute delivery quality assurance by verifying that solutions meet FAA standards for reliability, security, scalability, and usability
  • Drive technical risk mitigation, operational readiness reviews (ORR), and system verification/validation
  • Establish continuous feedback loops on current system and evaluate emerging surveillance technologies to support “future-proof” innovation efforts with Peraton Labs
  • Champion a culture of accountability, systems thinking, and mission focus across the technical team
