Responsibilities

We are hiring a Marine Mammal Trainer Supervisor for a new program in San Diego, CA. Work will be performed onsite. 

 

This role will have the opportunity deal with Naval Marine Mammal programs.  Training dolphins and sealions to assist the Navy with mine counter measures.

 

What you will do:

  • Supervise, mentor, and provide technical guidance to a team of marine mammal trainers
  • Develop and implement effective training plans and curricula for marine mammals to prepare them for fleet deployments and operational scenarios
  • Ensure training adheres to established standards, protocols, and animal welfare guidelines
  • Oversee training evolutions and data collection to assess marine mammal proficiency
  • Manage training schedules, resources, and facilities
  • Lead training support for marine mammal deployments and operations
  • Collaborate with veterinarians and marine mammal personnel on animal care, health, and safety
  • Maintain accurate training records and documentation
Qualifications

What you'll need:

  • Clearance:  DOD Secret Security Clearance
  • Education:  High School Diploma and 6 years of experience
  • NMMP Continuing Education Courses I-IV required

Desired Skills:

  • Experience training bottlenose dolphins and/or California sea lions
  • Knowledge of marine mammal research techniques and scientific data collection
  • Deployment experience supporting Navy operations
  • Certified Professional Animal Training (CPAT) accreditation

Target Salary Range

$80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
