Program Overview
Program management, engineering, and technical support for the Air Systems Group, focusing on research, systems engineering, and evaluation of naval air propulsion and power systems. Focus includes air-breathing engines, auxiliary power systems, helicopter transmissions, fuel systems, and propulsion system performance, supported by roles like data scientists, engineers, and chemists.
About The Role

 

Peraton is seeking a Mechanical Engineering, Senior Advisor (Part-time/On Call) to provide support for our NAVAIR customer.  In this position you will have the opportunity to be part of the Navy’s Fuel Systems and Aerial Refueling Branch, provide engineering expertise to the design, development, analysis, construction, modification, qualification, and maintenance of all Fuel Containment, Aerial Refueling & Fuel Systems.

 

What you will do:

The primary duties include serving as a senior mentor to junior-level engineers as they support both developmental and deployed rotary-wing, fixed-wing, and unmanned aircraft platforms. Applicants should have significant depth of knowledge in the assessment and solution of technical problems in aircraft fuel systems, aerial refueling, and fuel containment. Applicants should have significant knowledge, skill and experience in the development and evaluation of performance requirements, design criteria, processes, and analysis methods related to aircraft fuel systems, aerial refueling, and fuel containment and their components.

 

Responsibilities:

  • The individual may be required to assist junior-level engineers in the critical review of technical reports and products. Some of these products include:
  • CDRLS
    • Engineering Change Proposals
    • Engineering Data Requirements Agreement Plan
    • Fuel Systems Management Plans
    • Certification plans and proposals
  • The individual may be required to assist in the review of flight test data, with the goal of identifying good/bad/problematic performance of fuel systems components as developmental aircraft are matured and prepared for full fleet deployment.
  • The individual may be required to apply the root cause and corrective action process as it applies to fleet discrepancy reports regarding failed or faulty fuel system, aerial refueling, and fuel containment components. The individual may be called upon to serve as technical expert in the engineering investigation of failed fuel systems, aerial refueling, and fuel containment components.
  • The individual may be required to provide expert guidance in update and revision of technical specifications for Fuel Systems, aerial refueling, and fuel containment components.
  • The individual may be required to assist in fuel system, aerial refueling, and fuel containment technical evaluations and risk assessments for developmental and deployed air vehicle weapon systems
  • The individual may be required to assist in the development of training material for fuel system, aerial refueling, and fuel containment components
Qualifications

 

What you will need: 

  • Minimum of 12 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 10 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 7 years with Ph.D.
  • The ability to obtain a Secret security clearance

Nice to have: 

  • Individual should have significant depth of experience in aircraft fuel systems, aerial refueling, and fuel containment for both fixed-wing, rotary-wing, and unmanned aircraft.
  • Excellent teamwork
  • Presentation skills capable of defending a technical position and/or recommendation.
  • Good communication skills, and knowledge and experience in procedures for writing technical procedures for a non-technical audience
  • Heart of a teacher while assisting junior-level engineers
SCA / Union / Intern Rate or Range

Details

Target Salary Range: $146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
