Program Overview
Provide critical communications and tracking for multiple spacecraft from three complexes located globally, and operates year round 24 hours/7days to provide continuous contact with the spacecraft. The program fulfills NASA goals by supporting NASA deep space mission set, including NASA-funded missions and collaborative international missions.
About The Role

Peraton is seeking a Network Administrator to be part of a cutting edge, mission focused team supporting the Deep Space Network (DSN) in Fort Irwin, CA with NASA/JPL.

 

The Deep Space Network is NASA’s international array of giant radio antennas that supports interplanetary spacecraft missions, plus a few that orbit Earth. The DSN also provides radar and radio astronomy observations that improve our understanding of the solar system and the larger universe. The antennas of the Deep Space Network are the indispensable link to explorers venturing beyond the moon. They provide the crucial connection for commanding our spacecraft and receiving their never-before-seen images and scientific information on Earth, propelling our understanding of the universe, our solar system and ultimately, our place within it.

 

The successful candidate will provide Network Administration support for the Deep Space Network Flight Operations Network.  Responsible for maintaining efficient network communications based on customer requirements.  Perform software and hardware installations and upgrades as necessary, implement network security and configuration controls, troubleshoot and resolve network failures.  Monitor network utilization and provide performance metrics reports.  Work with customers and System Administrators to define requirements and implement solutions.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Installation of Cisco network switches and routers hardware and software
  • Installation of Cisco IOS upgrades and patches
  • Implement VLAN configurations
  • Monitor network performance
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network failures and performance issues
  • Generate network operations performance metrics and reports

 

Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 2 years with BS/BA; 0 years with MS/MA; 6 years with no degree
  • Current CompTIA Network+ Certification
  • Experience installing application software in an operational environment
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with Cisco Switches and Routers
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with Cisco IOS
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with implementing VLAN configurations
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with IP Addressing and Subnet Masking
  • In-depth knowledge and experience routing protocols
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with networking technologies (Ethernet, fast- and gigabit-Ethernet, VLAN Switching)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point
  • Must be able to obtain a trusted background check and pass a National Criminal Information Check (NCIC). In order to obtain a clearance, you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship. 
  • Must possess and retain a valid Driver’s License (Real ID).

Desired Qualifications:

  • Expertise in Local Area Networks (LANs), Wide Area Networks (WANs), Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), and data communication networks.
  • Experience with routers, switches, servers, firewalls, and wireless access points.

Details

Target Salary Range: $66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
