Peraton is seeking a Network Technician to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The ideal candidate will become will become part of Peraton’s Federal Bureau of Investigates (FBI) Enterprise Enterprise Operations Center (EOC) Network Operation Center (NOC) Support Services program providing IT Service Desk support. The NOC provides continuous (24x7x365) IT Service Desk supporting approximately 70,000 FBI accounts across 500+ locations within and outside the continental United States. The NOC provides Tier 2 Network Performance Monitoring and Support and Tier 2 System Administration Monitoring and Support. The NOC supports the FBI’s IT Critical Incident Management (CIM) Program, which supports the FBI’s Strategic Information and Operations Center (SIOC), National Crisis Command Center (NC3), and Field Office Command Posts, among other critical incidents. The NOC provides a single point of contact for end users to receive technical support, request technical services and receive status about existing requests. The NOC will provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 services that are critical to the successful operation of a technical support environment as it is the focal point for communication between technical solver groups. The IT Service Desk is central to the operational service model and is the focal point for end-to-end service delivery across the service operation lifecycle.
The Network Technician role will be located in on-site in Pocatello, ID.
Day to Day Work Responsibilities:
Network Operations and Support:
Provide continuous and proactive Tier 1/2 network performance monitoring and support.
Support shift work to ensure 24x7x365 network operations and stability.
Monitor network performance, execute maintenance and operations plans, and track Tier 2 network services and enterprise outages.
Conduct transport layer monitoring from core nodes to individual end-nodes, including operational server monitoring for enterprise servers and hardware.
Provide monitoring and reporting for applications or users causing peak load conditions, including trending, bandwidth, traffic packet analysis, and remediation recommendations.
Tier 2 Network and Systems Support:
Serve as primary Tier 2 support for CIM, SIOC, NC3, Field Office Command Posts, and other critical incidents.
Assist in the implementation of enterprise networks, network components, and threat assessment/security design.
Evaluate hardware and software components as part of the selection process and assist in custom software/hardware development.
Provide ongoing maintenance, support, testing, and training for hardware, software, and network components.
Identify, isolate, track, resolve, and document network hardware or enterprise application issues affecting end-user communications.
Customer and Team Support:
Troubleshoot under direct supervision to maintain and improve customer satisfaction.
Identify and report routine issues.
Assist other systems support personnel and provide user/system administrator support, including knowledge transfer and troubleshooting.
Modify or add hardware and software components to correct defects, enhance performance, and incorporate additional capabilities.
Basic Qualifications:
2+ years in network technology, including architecting, designing, and developing medium to large enterprise networks
Experience with communications backbones, enterprise email systems, network-centric applications, and LAN/WAN connectivity
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting FBI SCINet, FBINet, UNet, and/or BlackNet transport networks
Experience supporting Information Technology business operations
