Program Overview
Peraton provides the customer with enterprise infrastructure support to plan, engineer, implement, enhance, maintain and operate the global consular affairs IT environment.
About The Role

Peraton is seeking a Senior Network and Computer Systems Administrator to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals on our Department of State (DOS) Bureau of Diplomatic Technology (DT) Consular Affairs Enterprise Infrastructure Operations (CAEIO) Program. CAEIO provides IT Operations and Maintenance to modernize the legacy networks, applications, and databases supporting consular applications services globally.

The Senior Network and Computer Systems Administrator will be a member of the CAEIO Network team, responsible for working closely with other administrators, DOS leadership, and business stakeholders to develop and implement LAN/Wan solutions, monitor network performance, troubleshoot and remediate network failures, use logs, packet captures, and command line queries to diagnose root causes of performance degradation, and follow security guidelines to harden and protect the network. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical administrative and troubleshooting duties on network appliances.
  • Perform firewall troubleshooting duties for Palo Alto, Forcepoint, Stonegate, and Cisco firewalls.
  • Provide network administration and troubleshooting duties for Cisco switches.
  • Provide network tool engineering and administration duties.
  • Work closely with other senior network and systems engineers, building and maintaining complex networked appliances and systems.
  • Manage all aspects of the patching/hardening process for all production and non-production environments.
  • Prepare automation scripts in Ansible and MicroFocus NA using Bash, Perl or Python.
  • Provide technical leadership and technical guidance on projects.
  • Provide Tier 2 engineering support for multiple environments.
  • Deliver technical and user documentation as required.
  • Provide on and off hours support.

Core Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM ET - 3:30 PM ET (Flexible).

Work Location: This position is hybrid with remote work and one day per week in the office in Sterling, VA. The number of days the individual works onsite is subject to change based on government/program requirements (for example, surge support might require the individual to be in the office more than two days per week).

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship and an active SECRET Government Security Clearance with the ability to obtain a TOP SECRET.
  • Must have at least 5 years of IT networking experience.
  • Cisco CCNA or equivalent certification with experience managing Cisco networks.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communications skills.

Desired Qualifications

  • Cisco CCNP certification.
  • Experience analyzing logs and packet captures.
  • Experience with and/or certifications in Palo Alto or F5.
  • Experience with Linux operating systems.

Education and Experience: High school diploma (or equivalent) and 12 years of experience; Associate degree and 10 years of experience; Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA

Details

Target Salary Range: $112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
