Program Overview
Peraton provides USSOCOM, its Component Commands, Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOCs), deployed forces, CIO/J6, and end-users with high-quality IT platform and network services over an eight-year period.
About The Role

Peraton requires a LINUX Architect to support the Special Operation Command Information Technology Enterprise Contract (SITEC) – 3.  This position is located at MacDill AFB.

 

The purpose of the Special Operations Forces Information Technology Enterprise Contract(SITEC) 3 Enterprise Operations and Maintenance (EOM) Task Order (TO) is to provide USSOCOM, its Component Commands, its Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOCs),and its deployed forces with Operations and Maintenance (O&M) services to maintain Network Operations (NetOps); maintain systems and network infrastructure; provide end user and common device support; provide configuration, change, license, and asset management; conduct training, and perform Install, Move, Add, Change (IMACs) services. The responsibilities and tasks associated with each requirement play a pivotal role to USSOCOM, the CIO/J6 organization, and ultimately the end-user who operate around the globe 24x7x365.

 

This is a Tier 3 technical expert responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex, global Red Hat Linux environments. This role requires advanced analytical, design, and troubleshooting skills to manage the full lifecycle of enterprise-level systems and infrastructure. The engineer will play a critical part in performance optimization, leveraging data-driven insights and participating in all phases of the systems engineering process. Success in this role depends on a deep technical understanding of Red Hat Linux, strong project planning capabilities, and excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences. 

 

  • Develop, maintain, and support the technical infrastructure, hardware, and system software components of complex Linux environments, including installation, maintenance, and optimization.
  • Focus on performance optimization, using data as a key input for system improvement. Engineer host environments to support complex operational databases and system interfaces, ensuring optimal equipment performance.
  • Conduct high-level root cause analysis to recover from service interruptions and implement preventive measures. Document and analyze system anomalies to ensure reliable performance.
  • Work within the systems engineering process to contribute to the design, specification, and quality assurance of technical solutions. Participate in working groups, design reviews, and system tests.
  • Collaborate with government stakeholders to understand their requirements, evaluate potential technical solutions, and provide expert recommendations.
  •  Serve as a strong team contributor, providing technical expertise and collaborating with other engineers and stakeholders.
  •  Stay abreast of emerging trends in information technology to help shape future work and ensure the environment remains current. Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Demonstrate strong project planning skills, contributing to the development and implementation of new initiatives.
  • Provide Tier 3 subject matter expertise for end-user issues, ensuring prompt and effective resolution. 
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Min 12 years with HS degree, 10 years with AS/AA degree, 8 years with BS/BA, 6 years with MS/MA, 3 years with PhD
  • DoD 8570 IAT II Certification
  • TS/SCI clearance is required
  • Must possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in Linux systems engineering.
  • Expertise in the design, administration, and performance tuning of complex Red Hat Linux environments.
  • Working knowledge of network and information exchange technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, RESTful, SOAP, and HTTP).
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong technical writing skills for documentation and reports.
  • Proven ability to work with and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences. 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or LPIC-3: Preferred,
  • OR Red Hat Certified Specialist in Advanced Automation: Ansible Best Practices Exam (EX447),
  • OR Red Hat Certified Specialist in Developing Automation with Ansible Automation Platform Exam (EX374),
  • OR Red Hat Certified Specialist in Managing Automation with Ansible Automation Platform Exam (EX467),
  • OR Red Hat Certified Specialist in Ansible Network Automation Exam (EX457)

Details

Target Salary Range: $104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
