Program Overview
About The Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Systems Administrator Senior Associate to join our Mission IT Platform team. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to support, maintain, and optimize our on-premise cloud environments and managed service applications, with a focus on Azure resources, Atlassian Jira, Confluence, and Microsoft GitHub application administration. The ideal candidate will assist in maintaining system performance, security compliance, and platform affordability while providing excellent customer service and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor ticket queue daily, prioritize incoming requests, ensure timely resolution, and engage in timely and effective communication with stakeholders. 
  • Collaborate in sprint planning to define tasks that align with team goals and communicate any impediments affecting progress or system performance.
  • Administer user access and permissions, including creating/deleting user accounts, managing roles, and assigning permissions to ensure proper access control.
  • Monitor application performance, including system health, response times, and resource utilization. Resolve health concerns and implement optimizations as needed.
  • Customize workflows, dashboards, fields, and other application configuration items as required and maintain them as needs evolve.
  • Identify, execute, and support routine and regular maintenance, patching, upgrading, backup/restore, and troubleshooting to ensure system stability, security, and optimal performance.
  • Analyze system requirements to recommend performance improvements, cost-saving opportunities, and implement process enhancements for operational efficiency.
  • Configure and maintain Azure cloud resources and manage applications within the environment, collaborating closely with application teams, infrastructure engineers, software developers, and system administrators to develop effective solutions.
  • Monitor costs and identify optimizations to maintain platform affordability and sustainability.
  • Create, maintain, and update process documentation, user guides, institutional knowledge, and technical research findings.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively within the team, with management, customers, and vendors; serve as a liaison and participate in meetings as needed.
  • Accept guidance and mentorship from more experienced technicians and engineers, document and promote knowledge sharing and continuous learning, offer mentorship to less experienced colleagues.
  • Monitor and enforce security policies and compliance requirements across platforms and systems.
  • Collaborate with Cloud architects, Corporate IT, network engineers, and third-party vendors to ensure consistent, reliable operations and resolve complex issues.
  • Deliver high-quality customer service by assessing feedback and implementing process improvements to enhance user experience.
  • Support maintenance activities during non-standard business hours when required.
  • Commit to continuous improvement and professional development in all aspects of the role.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline, plus 2 years of relevant work experience OR
    • Associate's Degree in a technical field plus 4 years relevant work experience, OR
    • High School diploma or GED plus 6 years relevant work experience
  • Basic knowledge of system administration, cloud platforms (specifically Microsoft Azure), and application management.
  • Experience or familiarity with Agile methodologies, including sprint planning and team collaboration.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills related to common system and application issues.
  • Ability to document processes clearly and maintain up-to-date technical guides.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Willingness to learn and grow, accepting mentorship from senior team members.
  • Awareness of security best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Flexibility to support maintenance activities outside regular business hours.
  • US Citizenship

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working with vendor support and third-party technical teams.
  • Experience with Microsoft GitHub or other git platforms.
  • Experience with Atlassian Jira administration is highly desirable.
  • The following certifications and experience are highly desirable:
    • CompTIA Network+ or Security+
    • Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate or other relevant certification
    • Atlassian Jira or GitHub proficiency certifications
    • Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC-1)
    • CI/CD pipeline or workflow development experience or tools training (e.g., Jenkins, Azure DevOps)
SCA / Union / Intern Rate or Range

Details

Target Salary Range: $80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
