Join Peraton’s dynamic Operations Team supporting a cutting-edge cloud environment platform built primarily in Java, leveraging Free and Open-Source Software technologies including Kubernetes, Hadoop, and Accumulo. This platform enables the execution of large-scale, data-intensive analytics on a managed infrastructure designed to deliver high performance, scalability, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain a complex cloud-based analytics platform, ensuring system stability, reliability, and optimal performance in a production environment.
Provide comprehensive Tier 1 through Tier 3 technical support, including incident management, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem resolution.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deploy, monitor, and manage Kubernetes clusters, Hadoop data lakes, and Accumulo databases.
Perform daily operational tasks such as system health checks, log analysis, patch management, and performance tuning within a Linux environment.
Act as a primary point of contact for customers, delivering timely and effective support to meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and customer satisfaction goals.
Proactively identify potential system issues, recommend improvements, and implement solutions to enhance platform reliability and operational efficiency.
Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24/7 operational support, ensuring rapid response to critical incidents and minimizing downtime.
Document operational procedures, troubleshoot guides, and best practices to support knowledge sharing across the team.
Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends related to cloud infrastructure, big data platforms, and open-source tools.
Qualifications:
Proven experience working within Linux-based cloud environments, with strong skills in troubleshooting and resolving operational issues.
Familiarity with Java-based platforms and the ability to understand and support software running in such environments.
Hands-on experience with Kubernetes orchestration, container management, and cloud-native application deployment.
Knowledge of big data technologies such as Hadoop and Accumulo, including cluster management and data operations.
Strong customer service orientation with the ability to communicate complex technical information effectively to diverse stakeholders.
Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support as required.
Experience supporting mission-critical applications and infrastructure is highly desirable.
Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
Note: Five (5) additional years of Systems Engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
Twenty (20) years of experience as a Systems Engineer working on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
Demonstrated experience in planning and leading Systems Engineering efforts is required.
Possession of an active TS/SCI security clearance with a current polygraph is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
Experience with big data technologies, specifically Hadoop.
Scripting skills in languages such as Python and Bash.
