Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a motivated professional to join our team as a UI/UX Lead to support a major multi-year GSA program. Put your years of experience into a future of excellence and become part of Peraton’s team to support the GSA’s mission to provide end to-end custom-built capabilities for all things needed to lead and contribute to the overall User Experience strategy.  The UI/UX Designer Lead will oversee the employment of the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS) and create design elements that will be reusable to the customer.

 

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Lead the design of complex user interfaces and experiences.
  • Assist with user research and leverage insights for strategic decision-making.
  • Perform software requirements analysis, user interface design, user experience analysis, and developing and documenting UI designs based on standards and best practices.
  • Participates in software systems development, including the design, development, troubleshooting, and debugging of software programs for software enhancements and new software-intensive systems and products.
  • Navigate complex scenarios and challenges and devise courses of action to resolve situations with predictable outcomes.
  • Lead critical objectives where decision-making is of utmost concern to the outcome.
  • Design complex web applications including analyzing and updating existing applications and developing new applications.
  • Continuously improve the user experience based on feedback and data.
  • Utilize agile development methodology.

 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8 years experience with BA/BS; or minimum of 6 years with MA/MS
  • 7 years UI/UX Designer experience
  • Self-starter who can prioritize tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Effective communicator who can facilitate, write, and has experience presenting to senior stakeholders.
  • Passionate about improving the experience of users.
  • Deep understanding of strategic design methods and enterprise applications
  • Demonstrated experience performing user research, to include designing and delivering surveys, conducting user interviews, and compiling data gained from these activities.
  • Experience in planning and conducting effective design sessions and discovery workshops, including meetings with stakeholders and clients.
  • Ability to strategize the scope of UX/UI work and balance being a customer advocate, branding, and user experience needs.
  • Demonstrated experience using design thinking, Agile concepts and practices, and product management principles to develop customer focused software products. 
  • Experience with visual design/interaction design creating and implementing user interfaces based on user data gathering. 
  • 508 compliance experience
  • Able to work independently with some level of uncertainty while maintaining a big-picture understanding.
  • Can balance acting with urgency with doing the right thing.
  • Proactive and takes ownership of tasks.
  • Federal government contracting experience is a plus!

 

Preferred Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or associated discipline.
  • Proven experience in UX design, typically 5-8 years.
  • An extensive portfolio showcasing at least 3 senior-level UX design work as well as UI/Visual Design.
  • Familiarity with front-end development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
  • Experience with accessibility design principles and 508 compliances.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Ability to attain and maintain a Public Trust

Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
