Program Overview
About The Role
As a Data Recovery and Repair Apprentice, you will design and develop advanced technologies for electronic devices, perform micro board level repairs and reverse engineer electrical circuitry. The Apprentice will work in a small team setting and must successfully interact with clients, partners, and other team members in a highly cooperative, collaborative, and intellectually challenging environment. The Apprentice will be an expert in electronic data recovery deploying techniques to recover data from devices considered damaged beyond repair by repairing the Printed Circuit Board (PCB). Ability to research and develop techniques for transferring unique electronic microchips responsible for storing and encrypting data utilizing micro soldering techniques. Demonstrate expert level knowledge for devices utilizing both iOS and Android operating systems. Ability to diagnose and repair hardware faults in modern encrypted devices without the use of schematics.
*This position requires full-time, onsite attendance Monday through Friday in the Baltimore metropolitan area.
Qualifications
- Display proficiency in various soldering techniques
- Experience reverse engineering electrical circuits (e.g. iOS, Android, Storage and IoT devices)
- Experience transplanting NOT AND (NAND) flash memory, Central Processing Unit (CPU) and Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory (EEPROM) from damaged evidence to donor PCB.
- Experience replacing damaged components and rebuilding circuits by hand
- Manually repair damaged microchips by replacing damaged pads, traces and bond wires.
- Ability to bridge the gap between outdated schematics and latest phone models by research and development
- Utilize digital multi-meter to trace PCB lines, identify circuit components, and map physical construction.
- Ability to successfully repair intricate trace damage within a multi-layer PCB
- Employ advanced techniques to identify and rectify short circuits, effectively restoring full operational capability and preserving the integrity of vital boot systems
- Utilize DC power supply to manually inject voltages and overcome the fault within the microchip.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Proficient technical writing skills.
- 2 years with AS/AA; 0 years with BS/BA; 4 years no degree
- Minimum Clearance Requirement: Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
