About The Role
Peraton is seeking a Facilities (Controls) Technician to join our team at the Fort Irwin Complex in California to support our Space Communications Network Services Contract (DSN) with NASA.
In this role, you will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and installation of control systems for the GDSCC power generation systems, fire detection systems, UPS, monitoring computer systems, and HVAC systems.
The Deep Space Network is NASA’s international array of giant radio antennas that supports interplanetary spacecraft missions, plus a few that orbit Earth. The DSN also provides radar and radio astronomy observations that improve our understanding of the solar system and the larger universe. The antennas of the Deep Space Network are the indispensable link to explorers venturing beyond the moon. They provide the crucial connection for commanding our spacecraft and receiving their never-before-seen images and scientific information on Earth, propelling our understanding of the universe, our solar system and ultimately, our place within it.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive maintenance.
- Perform monthly safety inspections of assigned buildings.
- Troubleshoot equipment utilizing mechanical drawings and electronic schematics.
- Read and understand PLC ladder logic.
- Collect and provide analysis of technical data.
- Collaborate with other departments as necessary to meet customer requirements.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Extended workday.
- Occasional shift work.
- Must be able to work in Air-Conditioned Computer room for extended shifts.
- Interface with internal and external customers.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- BS 0-2 Years or HS 6-8
- Experience with electronic troubleshooting, repair and maintenance.
- You must be able to obtain a trusted background check and pass a National Criminal Information Check (NCIC). In order to obtain clearance, you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship
- You must possess and retain a valid Driver’s License (Real ID)
Desired Qualifications
- Working knowledge of PLCs
- Working knowledge of electronic relays
- Working knowledge of UPS systems
- Working knowledge of Fire detection systems
- Working knowledge in MS Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, Windows and MAXIMO
- Completion of an electrical safety program in accordance with OSHA and NFPA 70E
