Program Overview
About The Role
Peraton is seeking a Product Architect /Owner to serve as a strategic and technical leader supporting U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) activities in analytics and intelligence support. This hybrid role bridges mission stakeholders and technical delivery teams to ensure IT solutions are secure, scalable, compliant, and aligned with operational objectives.
These individual combines strategic vision, technical architecture expertise, and strong business analysis capabilities to define product direction, manage backlog priorities, and design and govern enterprise-grade solution architectures. The role requires sound judgment, business acumen, technical depth, and collaborative leadership to translate complex mission needs into practical, high-value solutions and guide product capabilities from concept through deployment and sustainment in a mission-critical federal environment.
Support will be provided across multiple mission locations:
- Ashburn, VA
- Sterling, VA
- Washington, D.C.
Key Responsibilities
Product Ownership
Define and communicate product vision, strategy, roadmap, and measurable outcomes aligned with CBP mission objectives.
Own and prioritize the product backlog based on mission value, risk, technical feasibility, and stakeholder input.
Elicit and translate business needs into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and product requirements.
Serve as the primary liaison between mission stakeholders, users, and Agile delivery teams.
Monitor product performance, adoption, and operational metrics to drive continuous improvement and measurable mission impact.
Solution Architecture
- Design and document end-to-end solution architectures that meet functional and non-functional requirements, including scalability, performance, availability, and security.
- Ensure alignment with DHS/CBP enterprise architecture standards, reference architectures, and regulatory frameworks.
- Evaluate and recommend technologies, platforms, integration patterns, and modernization strategies.
- Provide architectural oversight across development, integration, deployment, and sustainment.
- Conduct impact analyses for enhancements and system changes while supporting secure-by-design and zero-trust principles.
Collaboration, Governance & Technical Communication
- Collaborate with Scrum Masters, Developers, QA, Security, and DevOps teams to ensure predictable, high-quality delivery.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, Reviews, and Retrospectives.
- Provide architectural guidance during backlog refinement and release planning.
- Support risk assessments, ATO activities, security reviews, and compliance audits.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, architectural artifacts, and proposal content, demonstrating strong technical writing and stakeholder communication skills.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA. 12 years with a HS diploma/equivalent can be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 5+ years of experience in IT product management, solution architecture, or related enterprise technology roles.
- Strong knowledge of Agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe) and product lifecycle management.
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing enterprise-level IT solutions.
- Experience with:
- Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- API-driven architectures and microservices
- System integration patterns
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience supporting federal stakeholders.
Clearance Requirements
- Active Top Secret clearance
- Ability to obtain and maintain required CBP BI suitability.
- U.S. Citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
- Certifications such as:
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO)
- AWS or Azure Solutions Architect
- TOGAF or equivalent architecture certification
- Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with federal security frameworks and compliance standards (NIST, ISO 27001).
- Knowledge of enterprise data architecture and integration strategies.
- Experience supporting DHS, CBP, or other federal agencies.
