About The Role

Cloud Software Engineer
Location: Annapolis Junction, MD

 

Peraton is looking for a talented Cloud Software Engineer to join our mission-driven Cyber Missions team. In this role, you’ll work on impactful, real-world challenges—designing and delivering cloud solutions that prioritize performance, resilience, and cost efficiency in high-stakes environments.

 

As a Cloud Software Engineer, you’ll take ownership of projects across the full software lifecycle, from requirements analysis and design through development, integration, testing, and ongoing enhancement. You’ll work with a high degree of independence while collaborating closely with a skilled technical team, and you’ll have the opportunity to mentor and guide junior engineers as they grow.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Design, develop, and maintain cloud-based software solutions from concept to deployment

  • Analyze requirements and translate them into scalable, secure designs

  • Balance cost, capability, availability, and resilience in cloud architectures

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve complex technical issues

  • Review and generate technical designs to ensure accuracy and completeness

  • Help plan projects by defining tasks, timelines, and technical approaches

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience across the full development lifecycle, including design, development, integration, testing, deployment, and troubleshooting

  • 6+ years of experience developing in high-level languages such as Java, C, or C++

  • Proven experience with open-source, distributed NoSQL technologies (e.g., HBase, Accumulo, BigTable) supporting large-scale, parallel processing

  • 5+ years of software development on UNIX/Linux (Red Hat 3–5) platforms

  • 3+ years of experience in software integration and testing, including creating and executing test plans and scripts

  • Strong technical writing skills, with experience producing clear, accurate project documentation

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field (e.g., Mathematics, Information Systems, Engineering)

Certifications (one or more required)

  • AWS Certified Developer – Associate

  • AWS DevOps Engineer – Professional

  • Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)

  • Elastic Certified Engineer

Security Requirement

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with current polygraph

Details

Target Salary Range: $176,000 - $282,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
