About The Role
Peraton is seeking a Lead‑level Configuration Management (CM) professional to support mission‑critical programs within our national security portfolio. The CM Lead will oversee configuration control activities, ensure disciplined management of technical baselines, and maintain comprehensive configuration documentation within secure environments. This role provides senior‑level guidance to engineering, program management, and mission stakeholders to ensure compliance, traceability, and accuracy across all controlled products and systems.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the senior CM advisor for assigned programs, providing expert guidance on configuration control, documentation standards, and baseline management.
- Develop, implement, and maintain CM plans, policies, and procedures in accordance with Peraton standards and customer requirements.
- Oversee the identification, documentation, and control of configuration items (CIs) across hardware, software, systems, and documentation.
- Lead configuration control boards (CCBs), prepare agendas, manage change requests, and ensure decisions are properly documented and communicated.
- Maintain strict version control to ensure accurate baselines for all technical products and deliverables.
- Manage and update CM databases, repositories, and tools to ensure proper tracking and auditability of all CIs.
- Conduct configuration audits, discrepancy analysis, and compliance reviews; develop reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Program Management, Mission Assurance, and Operations teams to ensure CM requirements are integrated throughout the development and lifecycle of mission systems.
- Ensure all documentation, data, and change activities conform to corporate, contractual, and regulatory standards within TS/SCI operating environments.
- Mentor junior CM personnel; provide guidance on best practices, tools, and enterprise CM procedures.
- Prepare and deliver executive-level reports on CM status, risks, and metrics to program and customer leadership.
- Analyzes changes of product design to determine the effect on the product design and function and determines and prepares documentation necessary for change.
- Designs and establishes management documentation.
- Authorizes the release of drawings, and software configuration changes specified by management and other functional groups.
- Develops and maintains software configuration management tools to support configuration identification, control, reporting, and delivery of both internally developed and externally purchased commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software products.
- Performs configuration management and release engineering tasks to ensure new software product operating parameters are documented, comply with standard hardware configurations, and are logistically sustainable.
- Designs, develops, automates, and maintains productivity tools using programming, database, or scripting languages to improve software modeling and development.
- Designs and implements build procedures that are used to support software product development and use.
- May develop software configuration standards for company-wide use.
- May train software developers in the use of configuration management tools and the implementation of software quality standards.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Requires Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
- Requires 5 years with BS/BA; 9 years relevant experience will be considered in lieu of BS/BA degree
- Requires 4+ years of experience in configuration management, systems engineering support, or technical documentation control.
- Demonstrated experience leading CM activities in secure or classified environments.
- Strong understanding of CM tools, version control systems, and configuration item tracking methods.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, lead cross-functional teams, and maintain disciplined CM practices in fast‑paced mission environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting DoD or Intelligence Community programs.
- Familiarity with CM standards such as MIL‑HDBK‑61A, ISO/IEC CM frameworks, or CMMI-based processes.
- Experience with digital CM tools (JIRA, Confluence, ClearCase, Git-based tools, or similar).
- Prior Peraton experience or familiarity with Peraton engineering and mission assurance practices.
Details
Target Salary Range: $112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
