About The Role

Senior Cyber Software Engineer – Cyber Missions
Location: Annapolis Junction, MD

 

Peraton is looking for a senior-level Cyber Software Engineer to join our cutting-edge Cyber Missions team in Annapolis Junction, MD. This is a unique opportunity to work on challenging, high-impact software projects that shape the future of cybersecurity.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Design, develop, and maintain Java-based applications and services, leveraging modern Java frameworks and best practices to build scalable, high-performance, and maintainable software solutions.

  • Design, develop, and enhance complex software systems, including high-performance analytics, real-time systems, innovative algorithms, and large-scale data processing solutions.

  • Recommend new technologies and processes to optimize complex software projects and drive innovation.

  • Serve as the technical lead for multiple software development teams, guiding their work and ensuring alignment with project goals.

  • Select appropriate software development processes in coordination with the customer and system engineering teams.

  • Ensure quality control across all developed and modified software, maintaining the highest standards for reliability and performance.

  • Delegate programming and testing responsibilities to teams and actively monitor their performance to ensure successful delivery.

  • Collaborate individually and within teams to review, test, and refine software components, ensuring they meet rigorous design and performance standards.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve software issues, delivering reliable, mission-critical solutions.

  • Apply advanced software development methodologies and best practices tailored to each project’s needs.

  • Contribute to system-level design decisions, including hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse strategies, and leveraging COTS/GOTS solutions to maximize efficiency.

  • Transform system requirements into actionable software components, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is required. Alternatively, 4 additional years of relevant software engineering experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Extensive Software Engineering Experience: 20+ years in complex software programs and contracts, working on projects of similar scope and complexity.

    • Proficiency with Java development is required. 

  • Security Clearance: Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is required.

Details

Target Salary Range: $146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
