Peraton is seeking a highly skilled Cyber Splunk Software Engineer to join our mission focused team supporting secure, enterprise level IT environments. In this role, you will design, develop, integrate, and secure advanced software solutions within highly classified infrastructures. You will ensure all engineered capabilities meet the highest DoD cybersecurity standards, including the Joint SAP Implementation Guide (JSIG), Risk Management Framework (RMF), and applicable Technical Reference Architecture (TRA) requirements.
As a Cyber Splunk Software Engineer, you will directly strengthen mission systems, enhance cyber situational awareness, and ensure enterprise applications and services remain secure, resilient, and compliant. Your work will support critical national security operations and help shape the future of secure software engineering within classified environments.
This position requires deep expertise in Splunk engineering, software security, and secure system integration. You will develop custom Splunk applications, automate cyber workflows, enhance monitoring capabilities, and support continuous assessment of mission systems. You will also contribute to full lifecycle engineering—from concept and prototyping through deployment, sustainment, and continuous monitoring.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Implement, operate, and test advanced software security techniques in compliance with DoD Technical Reference Architecture and mission security requirements.
- Engineer, customize, and optimize SPLUNK dashboards, apps, queries, and data ingestion pipelines for enterprise cyber operations.
- Perform ongoing security testing, static/dynamic code analysis, and secure code reviews to strengthen software resilience.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex software, SPLUNK, and system integration issues across classified environments.
- Design and develop new software solutions that mitigate vulnerabilities and enhance cyber defense capabilities.
- Contribute to all levels of system and software architecture, including data flows, security controls, and integration patterns.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, engineering artifacts, and security compliance records.
- Consult team members on secure coding practices, SPLUNK best practices, and defensive software engineering techniques.
- Develop familiarity with emerging tools, frameworks, and industry best practices to continuously improve mission capabilities.
- Support RMF, JSIG, and DoD cybersecurity compliance activities, including control implementation, validation, and continuous monitoring.
- Automate security and operational tasks using scripting, APIs, and SPLUNK automation capabilities.
- Engineer and secure collaboration platforms and enterprise services operating in highly classified environments.
- Provides engineering designs for new software solutions to help mitigate security vulnerabilities.
