Peraton seeking an experienced Data Center Operations Manager to join Peraton’s Citizens Security and Public Services State and Regional team in support of the State of Alabama. This role requires full onsite presence. The selected candidate will support the Alabama Location, Enforcement, and Collections System and the Texas TIERS Service Desk. The position oversees computer operations and production control for batch processing, system monitoring, and service desk functions for both environments. This work is performed in a twenty four by seven setting at the Albuquerque Data Center. The manager will also provide leadership to two remote production control staff members.
Day to Day Roles and Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations to ensure staff have the technical expertise to address incoming calls related to data center services.
- Provide CA7 and CA11 reporting, including daily schedules, forecasts, and historical reporting requested by the customer.
- Manage the operations team responsible for scheduling changes, technical troubleshooting, and continuous support across all hours of operation.
- Maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data by proactively monitoring DASD and virtual tape usage and allocating resources to preserve performance.
- Maintain the online tape management system and ensure all tape management procedures are fully documented.
- Ensure customer acceptance testing personnel can schedule jobs through CA7 and CA11 and maintain documented procedures for resolution and escalation of production system issues.
- Ensure all operations and production control staff are proficient with job scheduling tools and maintain the customer batch production flow chart.
- Monitor all production batch jobs for timely and successful completion while identifying and addressing abnormal system conditions.
- Follow established problem resolution procedures, coordinate job restarts and reruns, and notify on-call personnel during abends.
- Execute customer requested batch jobs such as file copies and SQL updates to support production issue resolution.
- Verify system dates before and after batch processing when requested by customer staff.
- Maintain a detailed operator log documenting activities, issues, communications, and resolutions during batch cycles.
- Notify customer staff immediately of production job abends and any job conditions requiring escalation.
- Notify the State Production Control Analyst of any system issues that delay batch completion or affect CICS availability.
- Monitor all system software and production activities for performance, problems, and required maintenance.
- Continuously monitor the production CICS and DB2 environments to identify performance issues and coordinate corrective actions with customer technical teams.
- Ensure all job output is accessible through CA View or equivalent tools for archiving, retrieval, viewing, and printing.
- Ensure the production, development, and acceptance CICS systems meet contractual availability requirements.
- Coordinate system support staff availability and ensure the production CICS system is accessible when requested by the customer.
- Provide staffing and capability for customers to schedule batch jobs during any period that does not interfere with planned maintenance and backup operations.
- Schedule routine and special system maintenance in alignment with State requirements and with State approval.
- Provide daily production data reporting and month to date cumulative metrics as required by the State.
- Ensure operations staff deliver all contractually required reporting.
- Back up software and data necessary for event recovery, database recovery, and full system disaster recovery.
- Perform weekly full volume backups of the operating system, DB2, CICS, NCP, IBM tools, and approved third party products, with daily incremental backups after CICS and batch processing.
- Ensure end of month DB2 image copy retention meets contractual requirements.
- Transmit backups electronically each day to the disaster recovery site using secure encrypted processes.
