Peraton is seeking a senior Software Engineer. This position focuses on designing, developing, and implementing high-quality software, leading projects, and mentoring junior engineers. Responsibilities include writing and testing code, overseeing the software development lifecycle, troubleshooting complex issues, and collaborating with teams to ensure projects align with business objectives. The role requires strong technical skills in programming, architecture, and problem-solving, as well as leadership and communication abilities.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Software development: Design, write, test, and deploy high-quality, scalable, and reliable software applications.
  • Project leadership: Oversee and manage software development projects, including setting timelines, outlining specifications, and ensuring timely completion.
  • Technical expertise: Analyze and debug code, troubleshoot complex issues, and contribute to technical discussions and decision-making.
  • Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior engineers, share knowledge, and help develop their skills through coaching and training.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, management, and external vendors to align efforts with business goals and implement improvements.
  • Process improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements, establish best practices, and help maintain up-to-date documentation.
Qualifications

Requirements

  • 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD, 12 years with HS diploma
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Experience in system engineering job roles or equivalent years of experience
  • Ability to obtain Public Trust Clearance
  • Primary work locations in Tacoma, WA, Aurora, CO, San Antonio, TX, and Falls Church, VA. Remote work may be considered in special cases when approved by the customer.
  • Technical proficiency: Deep understanding of programming languages, web development frameworks, databases, and software design principles.
  • Problem-solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to provide creative and practical solutions.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor other engineers.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills for clear and effective collaboration.
  • Organization and time management: Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage tasks effectively to meet project deadlines.
  • Experience: Significant programming experience and a proven record of designing and implementing large information systems.

Desired Skills: 

  • Experience working within Military Health environments is a plus

Details

Target Salary Range: $80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
