About The Role

Peraton is seeking a seasoned Business Development Director, driving growth and shaping new opportunities across the Space marketspace. This highly visible role is ideal for a strategic thinker who thrives at the intersection of customer engagement, mission understanding, and business strategy. 

 

This position reports to the Chief Growth Officer of Peraton’s Space Sector. While the role is based in Northern Virginia, non‑local candidates will be expected to travel as needed. 

  

What You’ll Do 

As a key member of our Space Sector growth team, you will collaborate closely with operational and functional leaders to expand Peraton’s footprint across Space customers. You will: 

  • Build deep understanding of customer missions, competitor landscapes, and market dynamics 
  • Develop strategic business cases that align customer needs with Peraton’s capabilities and differentiators 
  • Build and execute a targeted strategic account plan with measurable objectives 
  • Identify, qualify, and mature a robust new business pipeline to accelerate deal velocity 
  • Lead customer engagement efforts as the primary interface with IC and DoD Space organizations 
  • Shape customer requirements and acquisition strategies early in the lifecycle 
  • Champion the Peraton Business Acquisition Process and ensure transparent communication with leadership and technical teams 
  • Guide customers and internal technical experts by developing RFIs, white papers, briefings, demonstrations, and other early‑stage opportunity artifacts 
Qualifications

Required Qualifications 

  • 16+ years of operations or business development experience supporting space organizations (e.g. NASA, NOAA etc.) 
  • Experience in shaping opportunities by influencing federal and/or commercial stakeholders, aligning mission priorities, and building a qualified pipeline of funded programs. (either as government or industry experience)
  • Experience in being a forward- looking strategist, aligning technical capabilities with federal funding priorities and budget to drive long- term growth and portfolio expansion.
  • Successful and proven track record of success- establishing and defending a pipeline, funding and growing a portfolio.
  • Deep and current understanding of customer’s activities and needs to leverage Peraton strengths and core values
  • Must demonstrate high energy, integrity, strong business acumen, professionalism and commitment
  • Highly effective communicator to all levels within the company and with clients
  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • US Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance

Details

Target Salary Range: $176,000 - $282,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
