Environmental Analyst

Peraton is seeking an Environmental Analyst to support our Deep Space Network (DSN) Operations and Maintenance contract with NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Fort Irwin, CA.

The Deep Space Network is NASA’s international array of giant radio antennas that supports interplanetary spacecraft missions, plus a few that orbit Earth. The DSN also provides radar and radio astronomy observations that improve our understanding of the solar system and the larger universe. The antennas of the Deep Space Network are the indispensable link to explorers venturing beyond the moon. They provide the crucial connection for commanding our spacecraft and receiving their never-before-seen images and scientific information on Earth, propelling our understanding of the universe, our solar system and ultimately, our place within it.

Responsibilities:

The Environmental Analyst supports and manages environmental compliance programs, regulatory reporting, data analysis, inspections, and permitting. The role requires the ability to interpret federal, state, and local environmental regulations and translate them into practical compliance programs, working closely with EHS, operations, engineering, facilities, maintenance, and management.

Compliance and Reporting:

• Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including those administered by the EPA, state agencies, air quality management districts, and water quality boards
• Conduct compliance inspections and assessments, identify gaps, and develop corrective actions
• Maintain environmental permits, licenses, registrations, records, and regulatory documentation
• Prepare and submit required environmental reports and notifications
• Track regulatory changes and evaluate their impact on operations
• Support environmental audits and agency inspections

Air Quality and Wastewater:

• Support air permitting and compliance, including records for emissions, permitted equipment, and operating parameters
• Assist with emissions calculations, testing, monitoring, and corrective actions
• Support industrial and sanitary wastewater compliance programs

Environmental Management and Incident Response:

• Support development and maintenance of environmental management systems and continuous improvement initiatives
• Investigate and document environmental incidents, spills, and releases; coordinate corrective and preventive actions
• Support regulatory notifications, agency communications, and emergency response involving environmental releases

Required Qualifications:

• BS/BA and 2 years of experience; or MS/MA and 0 years; or 6 years with no degree
• Strong working knowledge of EPA regulations and applicable federal, state, and local environmental requirements
• Experience conducting environmental inspections, audits, and compliance assessments
• Experience with environmental reporting and regulatory documentation
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple regulatory deadlines independently
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
• U.S. citizenship with proof of citizenship; must be able to obtain a trusted background check and pass a National Criminal Information Check (NCIC)
• Must possess and retain a valid California Real ID driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Occupational Safety, or a related field
• Experience with California Environmental Regulations and agencies such as Cal/OSHA, DTSC, Mojave Desert or South Coast AQMD, and Regional Water Quality Control Boards
• Experience with hazardous waste, air quality, stormwater, wastewater, SPCC, and environmental permitting
• Experience with environmental management systems (ISO 14001) and EHS data management software
• Experience developing compliance procedures and training programs
• Professional certification such as CHMM or CEP
