At Peraton, you won’t just support the mission — you’ll define it.
Peraton is seeking an experienced Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) Engineer to oversee and advance the environmental, occupational health, and safety aspects of program operations. This role supports the FAA’s commitment to ensuring that modernization initiatives are executed in compliance with all federal, state, and local ESH requirements while maintaining operational excellence. The ESH Engineer will lead risk assessments, develop and implement safety programs, and ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations for all BNATCS activities — from system installations to site operations — ensuring a safe, sustainable working environment that supports the FAA’s mission-critical goals.
Develop, implement, and oversee ESH programs and processes in alignment with FAA and Peraton safety standards.
Identify, assess, and mitigate environmental, health, and safety risks associated with BNATCS systems integration, deployment, and sustainment activities.
Serve as a key advisor to FAA leadership and Peraton management on environmental compliance, occupational health, and workplace safety.
Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk analyses to ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, FAA, and local jurisdictions).
Support environmental impact assessments, waste management strategies, and energy efficiency initiatives.
Partner with engineering and program management teams to integrate ESH considerations into system design, construction, and operations.
Develop and deliver ESH training and awareness programs for employees and subcontractors.
Monitor and report ESH metrics, trends, and incidents to management, recommending corrective and preventive actions.
Lead investigations of incidents, near misses, and environmental events, ensuring lessons learned are captured and applied.
Collaborate with FAA and other federal stakeholders to ensure environmental and safety compliance throughout all phases of the BNATCS program.
Support proposal efforts by providing ESH input and technical guidance on compliance requirements, mitigation strategies, and resource planning.
Participate in stakeholder meetings and program reviews to represent ESH perspectives and ensure alignment with broader strategic objectives.
Required Qualifications:
8+ years of experience in environmental, health, and safety management, preferably supporting federal or aviation programs.
In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NEPA, and FAA environmental and occupational safety regulations.
Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and manage ESH programs in complex, technical environments.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess risk and propose effective mitigation strategies.
Excellent communication and presentation skills; capable of interfacing with technical and executive stakeholders.
Experience with ESH management systems, audits, and reporting tools.
Proven leadership skills with the ability to direct cross-functional teams and contractors.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting FAA, DoD, or other transportation/aviation infrastructure programs.
Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), or CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager).
Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
Experience leading ESH compliance programs in large-scale systems engineering or construction projects.
