Program Overview
About The Role

Peraton Space Technology Services (STS) is the prime contractor on the Environmental Test and Integration Services III (ETIS III) contract at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC).  We support the GSFC Engineering and Technology Directorate’s Mechanical Systems Division in Greenbelt, Maryland. We provide facility operations and maintenance as well as integration and testing to support spaceflight hardware development. 

 

The GSFC Environmental Test and Integration Facilities ensure spacecraft and flight experiments will withstand the rigors of launch and will operate properly in the space environment. In addition to operations, these technical facilities have on-going goals of advancing the state-of-the-art in the development of improved space flight systems.

 

The GSFC Environmental Test and Integration Facilities are one of the most complete and comprehensive space hardware test complexes within the United States Government.

 

This position is an on-call position. 

 

Responsibilities of the position:

  • Performs engineering data analysis and corresponding report generation in contamination control which may require off-day shift support and weekend support. When possible, remote support is allowed.
  • Maintain proficiency understanding contamination control plans, procedures, and cleanliness requirements for spacecraft hardware.
  • Analyze FTIR and GCMS sample results and create reports of results for flight projects to meet integration and test schedules; this effort may require on-site support at NASA GSFC integration and test chemical lab or the magnetic test facility.
  • May conduct laboratory testing of materials and be required to create results reports on weekends and after normal working hours
  • Weekend or off hour support may be needed for investigation of contamination incidents
  • Provide technical FTIR and GCMS results interpretation and reporting during anomaly resolution.
  • Work closely with mechanical, optical, thermal, and systems engineers to ensure contamination control measures integrate seamlessly into hardware cleaning processes through analysis and reporting of sample data.

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelors degree and five years of experience or in lieu of degree High School/GED and nine years of experience; technical school training is preferred
  • This position requires a minimum of five years or more of experience related to the area of assignment.
  • GC/MS or FTIR spectroscopy experience including data analysis and reporting.
  • NASA, DoD, or equivalent aerospace program experience.
  • Strong knowledge of contamination control principles, clean-room protocols (ISO 14644), and outgassing/chemical testing methods.
  • Ability to interpret and apply NASA and/or industry contamination standards.

Details

Target Salary Range: $86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
