Program Overview
About The Role

This position is for a Ground Mission Engineering Lead for a large, multi-year contract supporting a cutting-edge and innovative space program. The Ground Mission Engineering Lead must have successfully demonstrated technical satellite ground engineering and program management competence, excellent oral and written communication skills, problem-solving skills, analytical skills, and interpersonal skills. The position will partner with the government Program Office to effectively plan, organize, and execute all acquisition and engineering activities across the system lifecycle. 

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in systems engineering and program management principles, as well as practical experience with satellite ground systems. This position provides support to the customers execution of the Program with responsibilities that may include, but are not limited to the following: 

Role Responsibilities: 

  • Oversees developer overall system design, development and integration 
  • Serves as the program lead for acquiring, designing, developing, and integrating complete satellite ground systems 
  • Collaborates with customers to develop and implement ground systems by generating Concepts of Operation, defining requirements, and providing technical and programmatic oversight 
  • Ensures systems meet customer requirements, risk tolerance, budget, and schedule 
  • Assess technical solutions and recommends Courses of Action (CoA) 
  • Identifies and manages risks thought the systems engineering lifecycle by conducting risk assessments, developing mitigation strategies, and monitoring potential impacts on mission objectives 
  • Represents Ground equities in Program Office systems engineering and programmatic processes 
  • Leads a team of direct SETA support staff to ensure accomplishment of tasks and positive work environment 
  • Priorities tasks across the team based on mission criticality and available resources 
  • Tracks and reports progress at multiple levels of contractor and government leadership 
Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

  • Must be a US Citizen 
  • Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph 
  • BS or MS degree in relevant Science, Technology, or Engineering field of study 
  • 12+ Years of work experience in a relevant field, ideally on satellite programs (government or commercial) 
  • Superb technical skills and experience related to ground systems hardware and software 
  • Ability to lead and develop effective professional relationships 
  • Ability to communicate very technical subjects to a diverse audience of senior decision makers with varying level of technical expertise 
  • Master at collaboration, coordination, and consensus building 
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic and team-oriented environment without supervision 

 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • 16+ years of work experience in a relevant field 
  • Deep knowledge of satellite Tasking, Collection, Processing, Exploitation, and Dissemination (TCPED) 
  • Experience with cloud-based satellite ground systems 
  • Experience with Agile software development practices and/or Agile certification 
  • Experience with program management practices, and/or PMP/DAWIA certification 
SCA / Union / Intern Rate or Range

Details

Target Salary Range: $135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
