About The Role

Peraton’s Marketing and Communications (MarCom) team is looking for an experienced communications advisor with writing experience focused on press releases and social media. We’re looking for a writer with experience, a can-do attitude, and enthusiasm for expanding capabilities. Interested? Here’s what you’ll do: 

  • Write press releases, social media posts, and website content. 
  • Draft and create executive level and technical feature and informational pieces. 
  • Craft short- and long-form educational stories—multiple media channels—based on interviews with subject matter experts. 
  • Attend meetings and events to promote Peraton to potential customers, partners, and more. 
  • Edit copy according to style (AP and Peraton). 
  • Research and develop content on multiple company areas. 
  • Translate tech jargon to everyday, digestible language for both internal and external purposes. 
  • Create collateral ranging from white papers to marketing materials. 
  • Master Microsoft, Canva, and Adobe applications. 
  • Work with the larger MarCom team to ensure alignment with internal and external messaging. 
  • Manage portions of, and complete, projects using project management software. Proactively assess progress, from minutiae to full-scale plan, work cross teams, and meet deadlines  
  • Collaborate with the MarCom team on varied endeavors, which may include events, employee engagement, marketing materials, and graphic design. 
  • Take initiative: Find flaws, recommend improved processes and solutions, continually grow. 
  • Be a positive team player capable of reporting to our Reston Town Center office. 
Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree in English, communications, or related field or a high school diploma and eight years of publishing experience. 
  • At least 8 years of corporate communications experience. 
  • 12+ years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.  
  • Exceptional writing ability (be prepared to share clips or a portfolio). 
  • Proofreading/editing expertise and understanding of nuanced messaging. 
  • Ability to accept constructive criticism. 
  • Desire to learn and adhere to our style and brand. 
  • Flexibility to learn new software, pivot when needs change, and contribute to team efforts. 
  • Ability to work independently. 
  • Strong organizational skills. 
  • Be deadline oriented. 
  • Must be a US Citizen

 

Here’s what it'd be nice if you have: 

  • Government contracting experience. 
  • Master’s degree in English, communications, or related field. 
  • Experience with graphic design/layout. 
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Canva, and other graphics tools.  
  • Familiarity with SharePoint and other intranet tools.  
  • Experience with social posting platforms. 
Details

Target Salary Range: $80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
