About The Role

Peraton Labs is seeking a Lead Systems Architect to support the BNATCS CTO team in designing and integrating the systems architecture required for the Digital Command Center (DCC) and internally built Agentic AI ecosystem supporting FAA BNATCS. This position will facilitate requirements gathering, architecture planning, issue identification, and cross-functional integration. Ideal candidates for this role are strong systems thinkers who can translate mission needs into cohesive technical architectures that enable advanced analytics, visualization, and user-facing capabilities.

This role offers the chance to shape the technical backbone of a highly visible modernization effort. You will work at the center of mission needs, advanced technology, and systems integration to help ensure that innovative capabilities are architected in a way that is practical, scalable, and valuable to the customer.

Key responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead systems architecture activities supporting data management, visualization, user interaction, and AI-enabled workflows
  • Capture and refine requirements for advanced analytics capabilities across stakeholders and workstream leads
  • Identify technical gaps, risks, vulnerabilities, and integration challenges that may affect program success
  • Translate stakeholder needs into architectural approaches, interface requirements, and implementation considerations
  • Partner with data, AI/ML, software, and visualization teams to ensure end-to-end solution alignment
  • Support system design decisions involving agentic AI workflows, user access/provisioning, and governance-aware platform integration
  • Provide technical insight to leadership regarding dependencies, constraints, and architectural tradeoffs
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 12+ years of experience in systems engineering/architecture, information systems, computer science or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience in systems architecture, requirements gathering, and technical integration planning
  • Experience identifying technical issues, vulnerabilities, system gaps, or operational risks in complex environments
  • Ability to derive clear technical requirements from ambiguous stakeholder input
  • Strong experience coordinating across engineering, product, and mission stakeholders in a complex program setting
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • US Citizenship with the ability to obtain/maintain an FAA Public Trust
  • Must be local to and able to commute to one of the following locations: Annapolis Junction, MD; Bowie, MD; or Herndon, VA

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with advanced analytics platforms, AI/ML-enabled systems, or agentic AI architectures
  • Familiarity with aviation, FAA systems, or operational mission-support environments
  • Experience with user-facing platforms, visualization ecosystems, or digital command center-style environments
  • Knowledge of modern software architecture patterns, APIs, microservices, cloud platforms, and access/provisioning models
  • Experience in research, prototyping, or emerging capability integration
