About The Role

Join Peraton in advancing the safety, efficiency, and modernization of the National Airspace System (NAS) through the FAA's Brand New Air Traffic Control System (BNATCS) contract. Join a team dedicated to protecting the safety and integrity of U.S. air travel. Peraton is seeking a Mission Liaison Director to serve as the strategic bridge between leadership, program offices, and field operations to advance initiatives across the National Airspace System (NAS). In this role, you will coordinate communications, engage directly with key stakeholders to understand concerns and priorities, facilitate risk management discussions, and ensure that modernization efforts, technical operations, and mission systems are implemented in compliance with FAA needs, principles and regulatory standards. You will be responsible for providing the voice of the customer to internal teams and partnering with your FAA counterpart to define the strategies to support their focus area while integrating across workstreams to inform decisions for the NAS.

 

In this position, you will:

  • As part of the Mission Liaison Office, be focused on actively soliciting detailed stakeholder input early and consistently in alignment with the Stakeholder Engagement Office, Engineering and Architecture (including Configuration Management), Mission Safety, Quality Management, and OCM.
  • Be accountable for making certain that all integrated capabilities including automation, surveillance, voice, telecommunications, and facility systems are evaluated, documented, and deployed while maintaining operational
  • Serve as the primary liaison for communications between FAA leadership, engineering teams, and operational stakeholders regarding mission needs and
  • Conduct early planning to help roll out system elements in alignment with union agreements, shift schedules, and field
  • Conduct early exposure events to capture controller and technician usability via stage builds and digital twin outputs.
  • Engage FAA labor and operational stakeholders so that prioritization decisions are understood, accepted, and executable without workforce disruption.
  • Provide transparent communication of change impacts to infrastructure priorities, maintaining trust and reducing resistance.
  • Monitor program and system changes to evaluate impacts, dependencies, and risk
  • Support incident investigations, root cause analyses, and the development of corrective action
  • Ensure FAA modernization and deployment activities are prioritized across workstreams to best support your customer's needs.
  • Prepare and maintain briefings, and compliance reports, work with the Mission Safety team to prepare and maintain safety documentation.
  • Collaborate with other BNATCs organizations, FAA offices, and external partners to promote cross-functional
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of processes, training, and operational
  • Play a vital role in ensuring operational resiliency and risk reduction across modernization
  • Support assessments and reviews by FAA boards or external oversight
  • Collaborate with engineering and test teams to verify that safety mitigations are implemented, validated, and traceable.
  • Work with domain leads (Automation, Voice, Surveillance, Facilities, Telecom) to maintain awareness and to identify interdependencies and constraints.
  • Participate in system design reviews, readiness assessments, and technical interchange meetings to inject mission perspectives into every phase.
  • Coordinate with FAA engineers, program offices, and operational stakeholders to facilitate decisions and approval/acceptance of documentation.

Your ability to connect policy, operations, and engineering will ensure the FAA continues to maintain the safest and most efficient aerospace system in the world, protecting the traveling public, aviation professionals, and the critical systems that sustain national airspace operations.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • US. Citizenship Required.
  • Must have the ability to obtain/ maintain a Public Trust
  • 18 years of experience with government or aviation programs, with strong understanding of aviation system requirements.
  • Director Level experience.
  • Familiarity with program management tools
  • Familiarity with FAA and National Airspace System (NAS) processes, and system engineering lifecycles
  • Ability to evaluate technical architectures for potential mission
  • Demonstrated experience integrating customer needs into Agile programs, including participation in Program Increment (Pl) planning, sprint reviews, and backlog grooming to align priority tasks with delivery.
  • Basic Understanding of cybersecurity, human factors, and operational
  • Familiarity with Jira and Confluence for tracking tasks and verification steps as part of
  • Understanding of how stakeholder inputs align with Agile system development, testing, and deployment across multiple technical domains.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with or for the FAA, DOT, or state aviation
  • Prior experience supporting FAA NextGen, NAS modernization, or federal aviation strategy
  • Thorough knowledge, insight into the FAA organizational structure and established relationships with FAA personnel.
  • Degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace, or a related technical
  • Familiarity with international aviation and associated standards
  • Familiarity with FAA Order 8000.369 (SMS Policy) and related federal safety
  • Experience with mission assurance processes.

SCA / Union / Intern Rate or Range

Details

Target Salary Range: $176,000 - $282,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
