About The Role

Peraton is seeking a Network and Computer Support Specialist to support the Information Technology Services Desk and Engineering services Contract at U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.  Peraton is providing maintenance and operational IT support that includes contractor support services for the systems, equipment, hardware, and software. The Network and Computer Systems Admin analyze, tests, troubleshoots, and evaluates network devices and provides technical support for the agency’s devices, troubleshooting, monitoring, and assists managing the enterprise mobile device infrastructure. 

 

This position is located onsite at OIG headquarters in Washington, DC. Telework may be possible, but at the discretion of the customer.

 

In this role you will serve as a Network and Computer Support Specialist engaged in testing, installation, configuration, and maintenance of networks including hardware (servers, switches, and routers) and software for the sharing and transmission of information. 

 

What you'll do:

  • Support and maintain local and wide area network (LAN/WAN) infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless systems across headquarters and remote sites.
  • Assist with network upgrades, configuration management, and remediation of network devices in coordination with engineering and security teams.
  • Provide technical support for regional centers and remote locations, ensuring network connectivity, availability, and uptime.
  • Perform network troubleshooting, diagnostics, and performance tuning to identify and resolve connectivity and routing issues.
  • Participate in data center operations, including rack layout planning, power and cooling checks, cable management, and hardware organization.
  • Support Move, Add, Change, and Disconnect (MACD) requests, equipment decommissions, and site clean-up activities.
  • Work collaboratively with systems, security, and service desk teams to resolve network-related incidents and service requests.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date network documentation, diagrams, and asset inventory to support operational continuity and audits.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 2 years with AS/AA;0 years with BS/BA; 4 years with High School/GED 
  • Experience supporting enterprise LAN/WAN networks in a government or regulated environment
  • Hands-on experience with routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless systems
  • Ability to perform network troubleshooting, configuration changes, upgrades, and device remediation
  • Experience supporting data center operations (racking, cabling, power/cooling)
  • Familiarity with MACD activities, equipment decommissions, and site cleanups
  • Working knowledge of Azure AD, Conditional Access, ADFS, Group Policy, Intune, and Microsoft 365
  • Strong documentation and customer service skills; able to collaborate across system, security, and service desk teams
  • US Citizenship is required
  • Ability to obtain Public Trust – High Risk clearance
  • Must reside within 50 miles of Washington DC

Details

Target Salary Range: $51,000 - $82,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
