Program Overview
About The Role

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) Program is one of VA’s ongoing modernization efforts to deploy the new electronic health record system to store and track patient medical information with full implementation across all VA facilities.  The new system connects VA medical facilities with the Department of Defense, the U.S. Coast Guard and participating community care providers, allowing clinicians to easily access a Veteran’s full medical history in one location.

 

The Interface technical project manager will serve as part of the technical integration team supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) Program and Oracle with the implementation, integration and sustainment of various clinical and/or admin system interfaces.

This team is focused on the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) of identifying and managing interface requirements, managing interface development and deployments, as well as managing the sustainment of live interfaces (full SDLC lifecycle of interface).  The team will have a blend of specific expertise and experience in Agile, Scrum, Product Management, Development, Deployment, and Project Management. 

 

The Technical Project Manager role will primarily be responsible to lead development efforts for EHR interfaces with an agile approach. This is a 100% remote position. 

 

Role’s Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact for client stakeholders, managing expectations and providing regular updates on project progress, challenges, and successes.
  • Lead the planning, design, and implementation of clinical information systems, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and resource allocations, coordinating closely with client and internal teams to meet project milestones.
  • Oversee system testing, integration, and user acceptance phases, ensuring that clinical systems meet functional, technical, and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a scrum master.
  • Oversee and manage the release and implementation of interfaces during go-live events.
  • Provide regular project status reports and briefings to executive leadership.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including regular executive level presentations.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, analytical, decision-making, time management and customer service skills.
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
  • Must be a U.S Citizen

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Experience with Federal Health IT implementation products/programs (e.g., Oracle Health Millennium, VA EHRM, Military Health System (MHS) GENSIS) is preferred.
  • Experience working with HL7 and FHIR interfaces
  • Leadership experience with diverse, multi-domain, distributed teams and multiple simultaneous projects, experience leading large teams in a matrixed management structure
  • Experience working / supporting VA client is preferred
  • Experience with large scale enterprise systems implementations
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certified and/or Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or SAFe Scrum Master (SSM), SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM), or SAFe DevOps (SDP) or other relevant SAFe Agile certifications.
  • Experience working with JIRA

Details

Target Salary Range: $104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
