About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative OT Security Specialist (Training & Knowledge Transfer) to join our team in the greater DMV area, supporting the Army National Guard.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead OT‑focused cybersecurity training and knowledge‑transfer programs covering industrial protocols, safety integration, threat response procedures, and operational resilience.
  • Develop curriculum, lesson plans, technical documentation, labs, and assessment materials aligned with IEC 62443, NIST SP 800‑82, and organizational policy.
  • Deliver instructor‑led and virtual training, workshops, mentoring, and train‑the‑trainer sessions to embed cybersecurity best practices into operational engineering teams.
  • Coordinate with system owners, control engineers, safety personnel, and SOC/CIRT teams to ensure training reflects live system constraints and current threat tradecraft.
  • Maintain and publish training artifacts, runbooks, SOPs, and knowledge repositories to support sustainment and rapid onboarding of personnel.
  • Assess workforce readiness, track training outcomes, and recommend remediation or capability development plans to leadership.
  • Support exercises, tabletop events, and hands‑on labs that validate skills, detection/use‑case application, and incident response for OT environments.
  • Advise leadership on workforce gaps, certification pathways, and long‑term knowledge transfer strategies to institutionalize OT cybersecurity practices.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 12 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 10 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 7 years with Ph.D.
  • Clearance: Active TS/SCI clearance.

  • Candidate must meet ONE of the following:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field; OR
    • Relevant DoD/military training (examples: DAF 462 (Intermediate) (ICS); DAF 462 (Intermediate) (CS3‑300)); OR
    • Relevant professional certification or equivalent experience (Certification: Pending Review).
  • Required experience and skills:

    • OT/ICS cybersecurity, control‑systems engineering, or related experience with at least 5+ years in training, mentoring, or knowledge‑transfer roles supporting industrial environments.
    • Deep familiarity with IEC 62443, NIST SP 800‑82, OT safety considerations, and how security controls interact with industrial availability and safety requirements.
    • Proven ability to design and deliver technical curriculum, hands‑on labs, and assessment instruments for operations and engineering audiences.
    • Strong technical writing and documentation skills to produce reproducible training artifacts, runbooks, and knowledge‑transfer packages.
    • Experience coordinating cross‑discipline training with engineering, operations, SOC/CIRT, and leadership stakeholders.
  • Desired:

    • Prior DoD/ARNG or critical‑infrastructure OT training or MTT delivery experience.
    • Familiarity with OT toolchains, protocol analyzers, and methods for integrating OT telemetry into SOC/CIRT workflows.
    • Preferred professional credentials (examples): CISSP; CompTIA CASP+ (CASP+ CE).

Details

Target Salary Range: $112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
