Program Overview
About The Role

We’re seeking a highly motivated Public Health Research/ Data Analyst with a strong background in research, data analysis, and stakeholder collaboration. This is an exciting opportunity to apply scientific and analytical expertise to drive impactful decisions in public health, environmental protection, and policy development.

The ideal candidate will have strong facilitation and elicitation skills, be comfortable working with stakeholders at all levels, and bring experience in public health analytics, scientific research, and statistical programming. You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team driving innovative, data-informed solutions that contribute to real-world improvements in public health and the environment.

What you will do: 

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document business and data requirements

  • Plan, design, and execute applied research projects aligned with organizational goals

  • Investigate and assess the feasibility of scientific principles for emerging technologies and solutions

  • Maintain up-to-date expertise in public health, data science, and evolving technologies

  • Contribute to scientific literature and present findings at industry conferences

  • Coordinate interdepartmental research efforts and manage collaborative projects

  • Perform data collection, collation, and advanced statistical analysis

  • Support the development of technical reports, project deliverables, and status updates

  • Conduct environmental and policy assessments to support data-driven decision-making

  • Interface with external stakeholders to gather, validate, and interpret data

  • Develop or use analytical tools and models (e.g., SAS, R, Excel) to support research and analysis

  • Represent the organization at customer sites and prepare/present technical briefings

  • Provide training to customer personnel on analytical tools and methodologies as needed

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2 years with BS/BA; 0 years with MS/MA

  • Experience applying public health concepts within government or public sector environments

  • Strong knowledge of analytical techniques (e.g., frequency analysis, logistic regression)

  • Proficiency in SAS or R for statistical programming and analysis

  • Skilled in data analysis and management using Excel

  • Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities

  • Exceptional interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills

  • Ability to adapt quickly to emerging technologies and analytical tools

  • Strong attention to detail, self-motivated, and results-driven

  • U.S. Citizenship or Green Card holder required

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain any security clearance required by the agency

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Python or other modern data science tools

  • Experience working with public health data sets (e.g., CDC, CMS, NIH)
  • Experience drafting or contributing to public health policy recommendations
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, ggplot2)

  • Experience with data governance, privacy regulations, or secure data environments

  • Prior experience working with federal or state health agencies

Details

Target Salary Range: $66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
