Program Overview
Peraton provides the customer with enterprise infrastructure support to plan, engineer, implement, enhance, maintain and operate the global consular affairs IT environment.
About The Role

Peraton is seeking a Senior Backup Engineer to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals on our Department of State (DOS) Bureau of Diplomatic Technology (DT) Consular Affairs Enterprise Infrastructure Operations (CAEIO) Program. CAEIO provides IT Operations and Maintenance to modernize the legacy networks, applications, and databases supporting consular applications services globally. 

 

The Senior Backup Engineer will be member of the Enterprise Infrastructure Support team providing enterprise IT operations support across two datacenter locations, 30 domestic satellite offices, and more than 250 overseas locations. The environment primarily consists of Windows and Linux virtual machines running on VMware vSphere, along with bare-metal Oracle Linux database systems.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain NetBackup and Commvault environments.
  • Perform remote agent installations and ongoing monitoring.
  • Troubleshoot daily backup job failures and manage backup retention.
  • Maintain and support Data Domain backup storage systems.
  • Support operations and maintenance (O&M) activities and project-based work, including reprioritizing tasks as needed.

Core Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

 

Location: This position is hybrid with remote work and one day per week in the office in Sterling, VA, or Washington, DC. The number of days in office is subject to change based on program or government requirements.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship and an active SECRET Government Security Clearance.
  • Working knowledge of NetBackup IT Analytics and Commvault
  • Experience with PowerProtect Data Domain environment (DDMC, Upgrading DDOS, installing DD Boost agents for SQL and Oracle)
  • 8+ years of experience with Windows and Linux operating systems.  Must be able to demonstrate basic Linux command-line knowledge.
  • 8+ years of experience managing a centralized backup system in an enterprise environment.  (5 years is acceptable if experience is recent and concentrated solely on backups.)
  • Working knowledge of VMware vSphere (vCenter, ESXi)
  • Experience writing batch files and PowerShell scripts.
  • Familiarity with NAS protocols and permissions (SMB\CIFS, NFS)

 

Education and Experience: Minimum of 12 years with HS diplomas; Minimum 10 years with AS; Minimum 8 years with BS/BA

Details

Target Salary Range: $104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
