Program Overview
About The Role

Peraton is seeking to fill a General Engineer position with the Launch Vehicle Engineering group at White Sands Missile Range, White Sands New Mexico. This position will support the NASA Sounding Rocket Program, it is a remote site and will require an individual to be able to work both independently and in a team environment.  The selected candidate will work on a variety of projects, candidate will support sub-system assembly and integration, testing, and operation throughout the entire mission life cycle. 

 

Responsibilities of the position:

 

  • Complete from procedures, engineering drawings/schematics and formal direction. 
  • Develop a technical understanding of the functionality of the various assigned systems
  • Setup and Operation of Vibration, Mass Properties and Bend Test Equipment
  • Setup and Operation of Launch Vehicle sub-systems operations (hazardous)
  • Lead Inspection/installation of NSROC specific Ordnance
  • Printed Circuit Board Assembly, Programming, Testing and Inspection Wire Harness Assembly, Repair, Testing and Inspection
  • Maintain hardware logs and draft reports from test or flight data products
  • Draft and Review test procedures

 

Training and Experience:

  • OrCad Capture or other electrical schematic software program
  • Data Acquisition and Environmental Test Equipment such as:
    • AstroNova Chart Recorders
    • M+P Vibpilot Data Acquisition System Operation
    • ESPEC Thermal Chamber operation and programming
    • Accutronic Rate Table AC117
    • Raptor Scientific Software (formally known as Space Electronics)
  • NASA Ordnance Handler certification training and physical requirements
  • IPC-J-STD-001H: Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies
  • NASA-STD-8739.4 WORKMANSHIP STANDARD FOR CRIMPING, INTERCONNECTING CABLES, HARNESSES, AND WIRING
  • Microsoft Office Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or other STEM field with five years of experience, Associates degree in STEM field with 7 years of experience in environmental testing/setup In lieu of degree nine years or more years of experience.
  • Experience with environmental testing/setup, NASA Sounding Rocket Subsystems and Launch Operations
  • Must be able to pass a work physical for Ordnance Handler, Bridge Crane Operator, Forklift Operator.
  • Travel is required to accomplish training, testing and mission support.  Travel is expected to be less than 1 month per year.
  • Must be a US citizen and able to obtain a NASA PIV badge

Details

Target Salary Range: $80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
