Engineering modernization and integration practices to include Digital Engineering and Agile at Scale for all of NGA, NSG, and ASG.
About The Role

We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to lead and guide engineering teams across multiple disciplines within the National System for Geospatial-Intelligence (NSG), Allied System for Geospatial-Intelligence (ASG), and other Federal Agencies. This role focuses on delivering timely, accurate, and resilient GEOINT solutions through the full system engineering lifecycle—from requirements analysis to integration and evaluation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor Mid- and Junior-level Systems Engineers across areas including:

    • Requirements engineering

    • Solutions development

    • Scheduling and reliability

    • Resiliency and maintainability

    • Services development

    • Integration, testing, and evaluation

    • System analysis

  • Guide the planning and analysis of user needs and traceability of requirements to system architectures.

  • Evaluate cloud service capabilities, workflow processes, and scheduling limitations to improve system performance.

  • Support the development of solution designs based on evolving requirements and emerging technologies.

  • Help capture and translate mission and customer needs into system capabilities and technical requirements.

  • Contribute to requirements allocation and integration with systems architecture and program execution.

  • Lead systems integration efforts across large-scale, multi-agency system acquisitions.

  • Perform technical evaluations including:

    • Analysis of Alternatives (AoAs)

    • Course of Action (CoA) assessments

    • Trade studies

    • Engineering assessments

  • Support strategic technical planning, performance engineering, risk management, and interface design.

What You Bring:

  • Proven experience guiding engineering teams across the full system lifecycle.

  • Deep knowledge of GEOINT systems and mission needs.

  • Strong background in systems integration, requirements engineering, and cloud technologies.

  • Ability to operate at a senior level across multiple systems, services, and agency boundaries.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Systems Engineering or a related technical/scientific field, such as:

    • Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Engineering Management, Computer Science, IT, MIS, or other STEM disciplines
      OR

    • 2 years of additional experience with a non-STEM degree
      OR

    • 4 years of additional experience with no degree

  • 12+ years of relevant experience in government or industry, including work in:

    • DoD or IC Acquisition Processes

    • Requirements Processes

    • PPBES (Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution System)

    • Systems engineering of large, complex Systems of Systems (SoS) or Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA) across cloud, on-premise, or hybrid infrastructures

Domain Expertise:

  • Knowledge of the current National System for Geospatial-Intelligence (NSG), Allied System for Geospatial-Intelligence (ASG), and the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO)

  • Previous experience supporting:

    • NGA and/or NSG/ASG programs or projects

    • Intelligence Community (IC) or Department of Defense (DoD) programs or projects

Technical Skills:

  • Demonstrated understanding of systems engineering principles and practices

Security Clearance:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance or ability to obtain SCI eligibility and pass a polygraph

Desired Qualifications

Advanced Education & Certifications:

  • Master’s degree in Systems Engineering or a related technical/scientific field (e.g., Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, etc.)

  • INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP)

  • Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE)

Technical & Domain Expertise:

  • Working knowledge of:

    • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools, languages, and processes

    • Digital Engineering practices

    • Software Development methodologies

  • Documented experience in the field of Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT)

Specialized Knowledge:

  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas:

    • Photogrammetry

    • Remote Sensing

    • Image Science

    • Information Sciences

    • Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

    • Geomatics

    • Related technical fields

Professional Affiliations:

  • Active membership or leadership roles in relevant professional organizations, including but not limited to:

    • ACSM (American Congress on Surveying and Mapping)

    • ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineers)

    • ASPRS (American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing)

    • OGC (Open Geospatial Consortium)

    • SAREM

    • USGIF (United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation)

SCA / Union / Intern Rate or Range

Details

Target Salary Range: $112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
