Program Overview
Peraton provides USSOCOM, its Component Commands, Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOCs), deployed forces, CIO/J6, and end-users with high-quality IT platform and network services over an eight-year period.
About The Role

Peraton requires a Systems Engineer - GCCS to support the Special Operation Command Information Technology Enterprise Contract (SITEC) – 3 EOM.  This position is located at Homestead ARB in Florida. 

 

 The purpose of the Special Operations Forces Information Technology Enterprise Contract (SITEC) 3 Enterprise Operations and Maintenance (EOM) Task Order (TO) is to provide USSOCOM, its Component Commands, its Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOCs), and its deployed forces with Operations and Maintenance (O&M) services to maintain Network Operations (NetOps); maintain systems and network infrastructure; provide end user and common device support; provide configuration, change, license, and asset management; conduct training, and perform Install, Move, Add, Change (IMACs) services. The responsibilities and tasks associated with each requirement play a pivotal role to USSOCOM, the CIO/J6 organization, and ultimately the end-user who operate around the globe 24x7x365.

 

The Systems Engineer (GCCS) plays a pivotal role within our IT infrastructure team, providing systems engineering support in line with the SIE OPORD.

 

— Provides management, system administration, planning, and operational support for C2 servers and client assets, including Microsoft Windows, UNIX/Solaris, and Linux/Red Hat systems.

— Administers and provides technical support for assets employed at approved global locations.

— Performs Configuration Management (CM) using tools such as Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) and others.

— Ensures cybersecurity compliance for GCCS FoS assets.

— Performs any necessary actions required to respond to problem reports.

— Conducts system, security, and operational testing/evaluations.

— Provides support for fielding of future releases.

— Ensures personnel and contractors are trained on the GCCS FoS and maintain an ongoing training program.

— Plans, designs, and implements system backup and recovery operations on GCCS FoS assets.

— Provides management, system administration, planning, and operational support for C2 client assets, including Microsoft Windows systems.

— Some positions may require shift work and/or an ability to work a non-standard work schedule to support the USSOCOM mission.

— Gathers and performs troubleshooting on systems performance data and security concerns from tools such as OS and application logs, Splunk and RavenVision.

— Develops and validates end-user self-help guides and processes.

— Identifies opportunities to leverage automation artifacts to improve consistency of support and speed to deploy and resolve issues

— Develops system and operational documentation and schematic diagrams (using tools such as Microsoft Word and Visio).

Qualifications
  • Minimum of HS + 12 Years, AA or AS + 10 years, BS  + 8 Years, MS + 6 Years
  • DoD Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • At least 5 years of related experience in support of a DoD enterprise level IT program
  • Ability to focus on engineering from a performance optimization perspective.
  • Expertise in a systems or application programming language or scripting (e.g., Java, C++, PowerShell, VB, VBS)
  • Expertise with server virtualization on an enterprise scale (e.g., HyperV, VMWare, etc.)
  • Expertise with server maintenance and optimization, as well as backup and recovery
  • Expertise with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, MECM.
  • Expertise with enterprise level storage platforms and interfaces
  • Knowledge of data structures and relational database systems relevant to candidates work area (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, PostGres)
  • Working knowledge of network and information exchange technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, RESTful, SOAP, HTTP)
  • Expertise with system engineering processes and techniques
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills
  • Strong technical writing skills

 

DoD 8570.01-M IAT II required AND one of the following certifications are preferred

 

  • MCSE
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
  • Nutanix Certified Advanced Professional
  • Microsoft 365 Certified Enterprise Administration Expert
  • Microsoft Certified Expert related to candidate’s work area
SCA / Union / Intern Rate or Range

Details

Target Salary Range: $80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
