Program Overview
Provides IC data management support to modernize mega data repositories, dataflow management, data provenance and compliance validation, and streaming solutions.
About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for the development, maintenance, and enhancement of complex and diverse software systems. These systems may include data-intensive analytics platforms, real-time systems, business management information systems, and applications that process large-scale datasets or implement cutting-edge algorithms.

You will work independently or as part of a collaborative team, contributing to the full software development lifecycle—including analysis, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and documentation. This role demands a strong foundation in software engineering principles and a deep understanding of the development methodologies appropriate to the task at hand.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications in accordance with documented requirements.

  • Develop innovative and efficient solutions for processing-intensive, real-time, or large-scale data systems.

  • Participate in the design and architecture of software systems, including hardware/software trade-offs.

  • Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.

  • Perform integration, testing, and validation of software components to ensure alignment with design requirements.

  • Document design specifications, test plans, and test results in support of ongoing development and maintenance.

  • Troubleshoot, resolve, and document software defects and performance issues through systematic debugging and analysis.

  • Apply modern software development methodologies and tools appropriate to the development environment.

  • Recommend and implement the use of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) or Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) software where applicable to reduce development time and cost.

  • Participate in software reuse initiatives and ensure modular, scalable, and maintainable code design.

  • Provide input on requirements analysis and software component synthesis from the system level down to the individual software modules.

Qualifications

  • Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance specifications.

  • Debug and troubleshoot existing software systems to identify and correct defects.

  • Recommend improvements to software development processes, standards, and documentation practices.

  • Design and implement new software features or modify existing functionality to meet evolving requirements.

  • Integrate existing software into new or modified systems and operating environments.

  • Develop and execute simple data queries for existing or proposed databases and data repositories.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.

    • No prior experience is necessary with a qualifying degree.

    • In lieu of a degree, four (4) years of relevant software engineering (SWE) experience on projects with similar software development processes may be substituted.

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with a current polygraph is required.

Peraton offers enhanced benefits to employees working on this critical National Security program, which include heavily subsidized employee benefits coverage for you and your dependents, 25 days of PTO accrued annually up to a generous PTO cap and eligible to participate in an attractive bonus plan.
