Peraton is seeking a Summer 2027 Industrial Engineering Intern to support the United States Postal Service Central Repair Facility (CRF) contract in Topeka, KS. This position is onsite.

Responsibilities:
• Apply industrial engineering principles to improve workflow, throughput, and process efficiency within the CRF repair and refurbishment environment.
• Assist in developing time studies, process flow diagrams, and equipment layout optimizations.
• Support continuous improvement activities including root-cause analysis, Lean methodologies, and waste-reduction initiatives.
• Collect, analyze, and report production and performance data to identify improvement opportunities.
• Help evaluate tooling, material handling solutions, and workstation design for ergonomic and efficiency enhancements.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams on process standardization and documentation.
• Support the creation or updating of SOPs, job aids, and technical process documentation.

Required Qualifications:
• US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Postal Service security clearance.
• Clearance is required to start.
• Be enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university AND graduating after August 2027.
• Majoring in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline.
• Overall cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher (unofficial academic transcripts required upon application).
• Available to work full-time (40 hours/week) for at least 10 weeks during Summer 2027.
• Local to the Topeka, KS area or able to commute onsite daily.
Desired Qualifications:
• 3.7 cumulative GPA or higher.
• Strong analytical, presentation, and communication skills.
• Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement tools.
• Experience with data analysis software (Excel, Power BI, or similar).
• Experience working autonomously on complex engineering or operations projects.
• Experience contributing to full life-cycle engineering or process improvement projects.
$24.50/hour
