The Cloud Systems Administrator will provide full-spectrum systems administration in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment supporting PWV cloud-based repositories. This role requires experience with large Hadoop and Accumulo clusters, and the ability to interface with external hardware, software, security, and network teams.
The ideal candidate will be a skilled Linux System Administrator, capable of diagnosing and resolving complex operational issues as they arise. Hands-on experience with Bash, Python, and configuration management tools such as Puppet is highly desirable.
Primary responsibilities include:
Monitoring overall system health and performance
Troubleshooting system problems and ensuring timely resolution
Maintaining and supporting distributed storage systems
Administering user accounts and enforcing system access controls
Ensuring compliance with system security requirements and protocols
Performing regular patching and system upgrades
Creating and maintaining system automation scripts
Participating in engineering discussions and technical planning sessions
Maintaining accurate hardware and infrastructure inventory
Interfacing with external support teams for hardware, network, and infrastructure-related needs
This position requires shift work and the ability to adapt to evolving priorities driven by real-time operational or global events. The ideal candidate thrives in collaborative environments, remains calm under pressure, and takes initiative in maintaining system reliability and performance.
