About The Role

Peraton is seeking to hire an experienced Systems Administration Support (UNIX/Linux OS) person for its’ Regional Cyber Center-Europe program

 

Location: On-site, Wiesbaden, Germany

 

Responsibilities:

  • Administer and maintain UNIX/Linux servers (Red Hat Enterprise Linux, HP-UX, Solaris) supporting DoDIN enterprise services across the RCC-E operational environment
  • Develop and execute patch management plans in compliance with IAVA directives, applying OS-level patches and security updates to minimize vulnerability exposure on classified networks
  • Implement and validate DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) for UNIX/Linux systems, conducting periodic compliance scans and remediating findings using ACAS/Nessus
  • Author and maintain shell scripts (Bash, Python) to automate routine administrative tasks including log rotation, user account provisioning, system health monitoring, and scheduled backups
  • Support enterprise services including DNS, NFS, NTP, and LDAP on UNIX/Linux platforms, ensuring high availability and performance for mission-critical Army command and control applications
  • Coordinate with the RCC-E Cybersecurity team to respond to security incidents, implement corrective actions, and ensure UNIX/Linux systems maintain Authority to Operate (ATO) status under the Risk Management Framework (RMF)

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree (STEM/Business Admin) and a minimum of 4 years of UNIX/Linux systems administration experience 
    • Associate’s degree + 7 years specialized experience; OR
    • 11 years of experience (no degree)
    • Must meet TESA qualification
  • DoD 8140 - IT (System Administrator) - Advanced
  • Certifications — must hold active certifications (one of the following):
    • UNIX Certified Administrator
    • RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer)
    • RHCSA (Red Hat Certified System Administrator)
    • RHCA (Red Hat Certified Architect)
  • 4 years UNIX Server OS administration;
  • 2 years HP-UX, Solaris, or similar enterprise UNIX platforms;
  • 2 years U.S. military command and control or commercial LAN/WAN systems experience
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Active Secret security clearance

Preferred: 

  • Proficiency in Bash and Python scripting for systems automation and configuration management
  • Experience with Ansible or Puppet for automated UNIX/Linux configuration management at enterprise scale
  • Familiarity with Red Hat Satellite for patch management and system lifecycle administration
  • Working knowledge of VMware vSphere for managing virtualized UNIX/Linux workloads
  • Experience with DISA STIG compliance tools (SCAP Compliance Checker, ACAS/Nessus)
  • Familiarity with HP-UX and Oracle Solaris administration in a DoD or enterprise environment
  • Understanding of RMF processes and experience supporting ATO package development
  • Experience operating in an OCONUS DoD or Army enterprise IT environment
Details

Target Salary Range: $80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
