Peraton is seeking a Systems Administrator Senior Advisor to provide strategic and technical leadership across enterprise infrastructure environments supporting mission-critical aviation systems. This role is designed for an experienced systems professional who operates at both the technical and advisory levels. You will lead infrastructure strategy, mentor engineering teams, oversee high-availability environments, and ensure enterprise systems remain secure, resilient, and compliant with federal standards. Your work will directly support the performance and stability of systems that enable safe and efficient air travel across the United States.

 

 

Work Location:

  • This position will work on site in the DC Metro area. Once operations are fully established, we will consider telework options however, this is not guaranteed.

 

In this position, you will:

  • Provide senior-level oversight of system operations, architecture hardening, and lifecycle management for critical infrastructure.
  • Advise on platform standardization, capacity planning, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Mentor administrators, lead complex incident responses, and coordinate cross-team operational improvements.
  • Provide senior-level oversight of enterprise server, virtualization, and infrastructure environments.

  • Lead the administration and optimization of Windows and/or Linux environments, ensuring high availability and performance.

  • Guide system architecture decisions related to compute, storage, backup, and disaster recovery.

  • Ensure compliance with federal cybersecurity requirements, NIST standards, and RMF controls.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex system incidents and root cause analyses.

  • Support system modernization initiatives, migrations, and infrastructure refresh efforts.

  • Mentor and advise junior administrators and engineers on best practices and governance standards.

  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, network, cloud, and application teams to ensure secure system integration.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship Required.
  • Must have the ability to obtain / maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 years’ experience or Masters degree and 6 years’ experience or Associate’s degree and 10 years’ experience or HS diploma/equivalent and 12 years’ experience
  • Systems administration experience with leadership in incident response and platform standardization.
  • Demonstrated experience managing enterprise-level server environments in regulated or federal settings.
  • Strong expertise in Windows Server, Linux, virtualization platforms (VMware/Hyper-V), and storage systems.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability architectures.
  • Familiarity with patch management, vulnerability remediation, and compliance controls.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with National Airspace System (NAS) architecture and modernization initiatives (e.g., NextGen).
  • Experience supporting aviation, telecommunications, or other critical infrastructure systems.
  • Certifications: RHCE, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, or equivalent preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills for data analysis, reporting, and visualization.
  • Strong ability to interpret complex data and deliver actionable insights.
  • Proven experience designing efficient workflows.
  • Expertise in managing and optimizing processes for compliance and performance.

Details

Target Salary Range: $104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
