About The Role
Peraton is seeking a highly experienced Systems Engineer to support our enterprise infrastructure initiatives. This individual will lead the architecture, design, deployment, and ongoing operations of Microsoft AD services, including VMware, Active Directory, Group Policy, Identity Federation, and associated authentication systems.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Engineer, install, maintain, configure, and optimize Microsoft server operating systems.
- Manage virtualized environments
- Provision and manage virtual machines
- Author and maintain complex SPL queries to correlate data from disparate sources, identifying performance bottlenecks and the impact of Microsoft software changes on network infrastructure
- Configure and maintain network services such as DNS and DHCP
- Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
- Work with internal and external IT teams to coordinate changes, implementations, and maintenances for network and security configurations
- Support the administration of Microsoft SQL databases
- Develop and implement security measures to protect against unauthorized access, data breaches, and other cyber threats
- Apply STIGs to IT systems and document results
- Develop RMF security policy and procedures documents
- Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather and translate business requirements into technical specifications
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to strengthen identity security posture
- Conduct regular AD health checks, performance tuning, and troubleshooting
- Document architecture, configurations, operational procedures, and support guides
- Provide mentoring and training to junior team members and IT support staff
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD; 4 additional years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree
- Must have a current DoD 8570.1/8140 IAT/M Level III certification
- Active Top Secret with SCI eligibility is required
- Cloud, Automation, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) certificates/training may be required within 6 months of starting
- Proven experience with MS Office, Remote Desktop Services, SharePoint, or Exchange
- Proven experience with Windows Server
- Working collaboratively with other engineers and departments.
- Experience in a virtualized environment to include engineering and integration for both physical and virtual infrastructure hosting one or more Operating Systems: Windows,
- Linux, Solaris, UNIX, and/or AIX systems
Desired:
- Experience with Sentris or similar attribute-based security classification systems (such as MIP)
- Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate or similar
- Professional-level Linux, VMware, Network, Storage, or Cloud certifications
- Proven experience managing enterprise Active Directory environments
- Knowledge in creating, administering, and troubleshooting Group Policies (GPOs)
- Strong PowerShell scripting and automation skills
- Previous experience in regulated environments (e.g., financial, healthcare, or government
- ITIL Foundations certification
- Expertise in writing and managing XML configuration files

Details
Target Salary Range: $112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
