Program Overview
About The Role

We are seeking a Systems Engineer to support the Peraton Space Exploration Networks Services and Evolution (SENSE) contract for our NASA customer based in Greenbelt, MD (GSFC). This position will allow for 100% telework, with travel to the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD and other NASA locations, as needed.

 

As prime contractor on the Peraton Space Exploration Networks Services and Evolution (SENSE) contract, Peraton is responsible for the operation, maintenance, sustainment, and systems engineering of NASA’s worldwide satellite communication networks.  Join the SENSE team to support NASA programs that integrate with state-of-the-art RF satellite communications systems and technologies. In this position, you will become part of NASA’s return to the moon, support new earth and space science missions, and launch vehicles. You will be an integral part of a world class team that ensures NASA space-ground communications are reliable and meet mission requirements.

 

This position will provide systems engineering duties, in support of NASA ground station development, including the following:

  • Develop and maintain systems engineering-related documentation including:
    • Operations Concept documents
    • Requirements documents with traceability
    • Specifications
    • System and subsystem design documents
    • Interface Control Documents
    • Validation & Verification Plans
  • Use of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to streamline SE efforts.
  • Prepare for and conduct milestone reviews.
  • Plan and execute end-to-end systems integration.
  • Perform analysis, design, and development of ground systems.
  • Lead and perform trade studies and assessments.
  • Interfacing with customers, external partners, and internal partners.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Education/Experience - degree required in electrical engineering, physics or other related technical discipline with directly related experience as follows: BS/BA degree and 10 years experience, or master’s degree and 7 years experience.
  • Experience as a systems engineer/architect on complex development programs.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering processes and best practices.
  • Working knowledge of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Experience with Systems Architecture using Visio.
  • Experience with requirements development and traceability via RTVM management
  • ICDs for Satcom ground stations
  • Administration requirements management between MBSE tools, DOORS, and MS Excel for flexible deliverables.
  • Experience with configuration management and baseline control.
  • Experience supporting formal design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR and ORR)
  • Prior experience coordinating and directing the work of peers.
  • Prior experience with planning and scheduling project milestones.
  • Working knowledge of the MS Office suite of tools.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working with NASA programs and projects.
  • Experience working in high-visibility, mission-critical environments.
  • Ability to operate effectively under schedule pressure and technical ambiguity.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Details

Target Salary Range: $104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
