Program Overview
Cybersecurity experts, Scrum and Agile professionals and engineers (systems, software, network, and cloud reliability) design and sustain cloud infrastructure to host spacecraft command and control systems. Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Antenna as a Service (AaaS), Data as a Service (DaaS), and an active Admin Wide Area Network (AWAN) team are provided.
About The Role
Peraton is seeking a Senior System Developer with extensive integration experience to join our team in developing, integrating, and testing new capabilities while supporting Operations and Maintenance of a Linux- and Windows-based operational and administrative system in our Chantilly, VA office. As part of our classified Windows-based Operational Support Network team you will support an exciting program contributing to mission success for a variety of stakeholders in support of a comprehensive, fast-paced program for our Department of Defense (DoD) customer. What you'll do:
- Work closely with DOD customer and stakeholders throughout the system lifecycle of a classified Windows-based Operation Support Network
- Perform application packaging, deployments, documentation, and release control using GitLab and Ansible automation platforms
- Maintain a mission-critical, highly available, high-performance Windows-based networked systems in a team-oriented environment
- Apply security patches and updates to Windows systems efficiently using enterprise patch management and configuration tooling; support Linux patching via Red Hat Satellite Server, as needed
- Develop and maintain operational documentation including SOPs, run books, and operational handoff materials
- Provide technical support for Windows and Linux-based components in a complex, high-performance computing environment to customers and tenants
- Demonstrated experience sustaining and operating attribute-based security classification services (e.g., Sentris) in an enterprise environment
- Maintain working knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) to support Linux-based components within the hybrid environment
- Adhere to M-F weekly full-time schedule with core business hours of 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM for most work hours are performed within this timeframe. Possible after-hours support for anomaly resolution, if required.
- Travel opportunity, up to 10% of time in support of site surveys, hardware installation, and maintenance support, independently or as part of a team
- Mentor mid-level and junior O&M personnel while efficiently managing tasks with minimal supervision
Qualifications
Required qualifications:
- This position requires the candidate to possess and maintain a minimum of Top-Secret clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI.
- Associates degree and 10+ years of experience in a related field; or bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience in a related field; or a master’s degree and 6+ years of experience in a related field. Four (4) years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
- Meet DoD 8140 Foundational Requirements for a System Developer at an advanced proficiency level
- Proven experience providing Tier III escalation support and driving complex issues to resolution
- Extensive experience deploying and sustaining enterprise Windows infrastructure (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, PKI, SQL Server) in classified environments
- Experience securing and sustaining Windows systems using enterprise patch management and configuration tooling, applying automation where appropriate; familiarity with Red Hat Satellite Server for Linux patching
- Experience writing and deploying Ansible playbooks (or other automation/IaC technologies)
- Experience with shell scripting in Windows and/or Linux environments (e.g., PowerShell, Bash)
- Solid understanding of and experience with secure systems engineering and development techniques and processes
- Hands-on experience leading vulnerability management and remediation workflows using Tenable/Nessus, ACAS, or equivalent enterprise scanning tools"
Desired Qualifications:
- Familiar with a fast-paced SAFe Agile Scrum or Kanban environment
- Extensive hands-on RMF, JSIG, or DISA STIG implementation and continuous monitoring at the enterprise level
- Advanced experience with virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) services or enterprise virtualization in classified environments
- Hands-on RHEL 9 administration or Red Hat Satellite deployment experience

Target Salary Range: $135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
