About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Systems Engineer, Senior to join our team in the greater DMV area, supporting the Army National Guard.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead systems engineering across the full lifecycle: requirements definition, architecture, detailed design, integration, testing, deployment, and sustainment.
  • Develop and govern Systems Engineering Plans (SEPs) and Systems Engineering Management Plans (SEMPs) to align engineering execution with lifecycle frameworks and governance.
  • Define system architectures, CONOPS, interface control documents (ICDs), configuration baselines, data exchange models, and cybersecurity/migration strategies for scaled implementations.
  • Evaluate requirements and proposed changes for technical feasibility, architectural impact, integration risk, and operational implications across production, test, staging, and COOP environments.
  • Coordinate system integration activities: align architects, developers, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and external stakeholders to validate engineering decisions and resolve complex system issues.
  • Lead proof‑of‑concept efforts to de‑risk technical approaches and inform enterprise decision‑making.
  • Oversee system setup, installation, configuration, cloud platform deployments, and sustainment per approved architectures and standards.
  • Produce authoritative engineering documentation, technical designs, and decision‑grade briefings that align system behavior and modernization opportunities with enterprise architecture and strategy.
  • Ensure integration of RMF/ATO, STIG/CSG, and security design considerations into engineering deliverables and acceptance criteria.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD
  • Clearance: Active TS/SCI clearance.

  • Candidate must meet ONE of the following:

    • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field; OR
    • Relevant DoD/military training (example: Research & Development Specialist (Advanced) Playlist); OR
    • Relevant professional certification or equivalent experience (examples: SecurityX/CASP+; RCCE Level 1; CEH; GCLD).
  • Required experience and skills:

    • Systems engineering, integration, or technical program experience with at least 3 years in senior systems engineering roles supporting enterprise or DoD programs.
    • Proven ability to develop SEPs/SEMPs, ICDs, configuration baselines, and system acceptance criteria.
    • Hands‑on experience coordinating multi‑discipline integrations, conducting system verification/validation, and supporting RMF/ATO evidence requirements.
    • Strong skills in technical risk analysis, PoC development, cross‑team coordination, and producing decision‑grade technical artifacts and briefings.
    • Proficiency with systems engineering tools/methods, model‑based approaches, and configuration/change control processes.
  • Desired:

    • Prior DoD/ARNG systems engineering or enterprise modernization experience.
    • Experience with cloud platform engineering, automation/DevOps integration, and managing multi‑site deployments and sustainment.

Details

Target Salary Range: $112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
