Program Overview
About The Role

Peraton is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join our team supporting the Defense Logistics Agency Global Exchange (GEX) providing data integration capabilities to the DoD and other Federal Agencies.  The team is based out of Herndon VA with the primary customer located in Dayton, OH, but this role can be supported 100% remotely.  GEX provides secure communications, data validation, transformation, routing, workflow and application business rules with a complete end-to-end audit trail between hundreds of DoD systems.

With GEX you will have the opportunity to understand how applications communicate and exchange data to accomplish broad customer missions across all aspects of the DoD. You will apply knowledge in the areas of requirements elicitation, management, validation and verification, business process engineering, system interface design, and operations support.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, supportability and effectiveness analyses for interfaces with Department of Defense (DoD) business systems.
  • Elicit, document and maintain requirements, concept, design, test, installation, operation, and maintenance of system integrations.
  • Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule and cost constraints.
  • Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition to translate customer requirements into hardware and software.
  • Support system testing and collaborate with customers to derive test and production connectivity requirements.
  • Translate customer requirements to production implementation and provide operations support for the deployment of new capabilities.
  • Manage operational data flows configuring and monitoring functional capabilities and providing customer support for error conditions as required.
  • Support the GEX transition to DoD ICAM for both user and system accounts.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD
  • US citizenship is required.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security clearance upon employment.
  • Demonstrate independent problem solving, troubleshooting, analytical and conceptual skills; able to manage multiple tasks and meet scheduled dates. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with deriving requirements, design, development, and testing of system integrations.
  • Able to adapt in a rapidly changing environment. Attention to detail with good organization and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in data analysis, with data transformation experience preferred.
  • Demonstrate problem solving skills in a customer focused environment.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of XML and ASCII flat file formats.
  • Experience with ETL tools and/or construction of data integration solutions using 4GL, such Ab Initio and IBM Transformation Extender (ITX).
  • Experience with test case development, data generation, and execution.
  • Experience with systems integration design via central data broker.
  • Experience working with Federal/DoD systems to facilitate the exchange of information and implementation of business rules to achieve government mission objectives
  • Experience with DoD data standards, policies, and processes including Procure-to-Pay and initiatives to implement new contract writing systems across services and agencies
  • Understanding of government authentication and authorization requirements to apply to the DoD ICAM migration
  • Understanding of DoD processes and audit requirements
SCA / Union / Intern Rate or Range

Details

Target Salary Range: $112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
