Program Overview
Electro-mechanical repair and overhaul of mail processing, delivery and bulk processing equipment, including repairing printed circuit boards, electrical, electronic, mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies to a component level. These services ensure the continued essential automation, mechanization of retail and bulk processing equipment used in mail processing and retail installations across the entire country.
About The Role

Peraton is seeking skilled and qualified candidates for their Electronic Technician II position with the Postal CRF program located in Topeka, KS. The Electronic Technician works at the United States Postal Service (USPS) Central Repair Facility (CRF) in Topeka, KS.  The CRF is a depot repair facility for USPS mail processing, delivery, and bulk mail systems repairable parts. Examples: repairing printed circuit boards, electrical, electronic, mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies to component level. The CRF provides depot level maintenance for essential automation, mechanization, retail and bulk mail processing systems used in all mail processing and retail installations.

 

Our electronic technicians apply comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems in various types of electronic equipment. Job specific tasks include: 

  • Perform testing and repair of simple to complex electronic and electromechanical equipment using common hand tools and general to more complex test equipment (e.g., multimeters, power supplies, signal generators, frequency counters, oscilloscopes, Teradyne, etc.)

  • Diagnose and repair items to the component level

  • Receive technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher level technician and work is reviewed for specific compliance with accepted practices and work assignments

  • May provide technical guidance to lower level technicians

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent with two years related experience
  • Must have Formal electronics training from an accredited program or equivalent military training 
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Must have knowledge and ability to perform component level repairs on simple to high complexity electronic/electromechanical items
  • Mastery of troubleshooting techniques
  • Microprocessor/microcomputer theory, solid state electronics, and digital and analog theory training
  • Understanding of general test equipment
  • Knowledge of schematic symbols, values and their meaning  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with handling of ESD sensitive items    
  • J-STD-001 certification 
  • ISCET Certified Electronic Technician (CET) certification 

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds 
  • Physical activity may include climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motion 
  • Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as viewing a computer terminal 
  • Visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection) 
  • Subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current

Target Salary Range: The rate / range per hour below represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
