About The Role

Peraton Labs delivers world class cyber research and engineering to government agencies, telecom carriers, utilities, and commercial enterprises. Drawing on its Bell Labs heritage, Peraton Labs excels at creating innovative technologies and services to solve the most difficult and complex problems, shaping the state of the art in government and commercial cybersecurity.

We are looking for candidates with a background in telecommunications cellular and wireline (fiber and metallic) networks and equipment upgrade experience for a casual/on-call employee position for long-term work ranging from up to 20 hours per week for a 5-month-to-2 year project in our professional services group beginning in early July and ending in May 2027 with the potential to extend another year.

 

Candidates will work with teams to

  • Provide telecom engineering expertise and consulting services to Peraton Labs for a project related to the FCC Supply Chain Reimbursement Program for small carriers to remove, replace, and dispose of covered communications equipment and services from their networks
  • Review carrier replacement equipment plans and their related cost estimates and provide an evaluation for like-for-like replacement and reasonableness based on generally accepted telecom engineering principles based on publicly available vendor product information and an FCC commissioned replacement device and service industry average Cost Catalog
Qualifications
  • 2 years of experience with BS/BA; 0 years with MS/MA; 6 years with no degree
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Candidate must be able to submit and pass FCC background check, FCC forms A-600 and OF306, and be free of any conflict-of-interest issues with applicant carriers
  • Security clearance is not required
  • Basic knowledge of cellular and / or wireline carrier network basic designs for voice and broadband services, high level architectures and network component types of systems, devices, servers, firewalls, routers, switches, relays, 3G/4G/5G transmitters, antenna, antenna and equipment mountings and towers/poles and fiber/microwave facilities
  • High level understanding of the magnitude of costs of network components and software applications related to provisioning, configuring, operating and maintenance and related professional services for planning, designing, engineering and project management of carrier Covered Equipment and costs for dismantling and disposal of various equipment and installation of replacement equipment
  • Work in teams and under general supervision, providing solutions to technical problems of moderate scope/complexity
  • Strong technical analytical skills
  • Ability and desire to quickly acquire knowledge of new subject matter areas
  • Wireless RF design experience is not required

 

Details

Target Salary Range: $66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
